I want to lighten up my car a bit, it's heavy on the pack side.

Does anyone make any Li-ion pack yet? It would be nice to have a one.

lipoly (lithium polymer) packs are pretty common as far as lith tpye packs go. also they are 7.4, the individual cells are 3.7v so they dont come in exactly the right voltage put pretty close anyway.

COOL! Where can I get one?
Are they as light as the Li-Ion?

My only concern is that a 7.4 lithium pack charges up to something like 8.4v and my li-ion packs that I have built so far are pretty much dead around 6.5v. I think that a 11.1v or 14.8v pack is the way to go. With that much voltage you wouldn't need to hammer the gas as much. So you should be able to get more runtime. I know ppl will start yelling about the evils of li-ions, but i got these cheap so I dont mind experimenting.

They are much easier to assemble into packs (than lipos) since they look just like regular nimh and nicad cells, you can wire them up in series (for more speed) and parallel (for increased runtime and a higher discharge rate). I have only made a few packs so far but nothing has caught on fire, they really do a great job of holding their charge and according to what i have read have a lower internal resistance than your avg. nm-mh cell... Probably not Gp3300 but its good enough for bashing around.
