Well since I have taken on projects of different sorts (Resorting a '70 chevelle SS) I have lost time for RC's here is my Wavechopper 30" hull with a K&B .45 on Prather Engine Mount. It's nothing fancy, just soemthing to play with when I get stressed over the car..
Anyone know where I can find cheap hardware?
Thanks
Todd

Guess pictures would help... The hull is only one layer of Fiberglass with a THICK layer of Gel Coat.. I guess I will have to put 1-2 more layers on the boat because it just feels so flimsy..

...........
Hull was $70 shipped, Engine was $0.00, Engine Mount was $15 shipped..
I think 85 for everything (so far) is pretty good...
That is an cool boat!!! Do you have that chevelle done yet. My dad and I are rebuilding a 1967 mustang. Old cars are sweet!!!!!

I just completly tore down the body. the Sub-Body is on a rotisseri right now. And the # match 396 375/hp engine is at the machine shop. I am not going to have it bored over because I want this to be all stock..
Thanks for the boat compliment..

is it just me, or do you have some sort of exhaust throttle on that puppy?? i love exhaust throttle, they sound nasty as hell and boy do they rev!

Looks like one to me.

wow hydro!!! aren't you the observant one :D here's the real question...is that a carb being used as an exhaust throttle or a special kit? i'm used to the outboard types that use a butterfly. i'm just curious really. or maybe...i just want one for my next boat so i can really show hydro junkie what's up! that's right hydro...i'm gunning for ya! just be glad i can't afford the Mac .45 :D

Looks to me like just a throttle, as a carb is visible on the backplate. With the bad photo resolution, it's hard to see what he really has for a set up. It's hard to say for sure, but I think it also has water cooling . Thought I saw a nipple on the bottom right corner of the unit  And what's all this "gunning for ya" crap? You aren't "gunning" for anything unless you go up to 1/8th scale. Anything smaller is just a toy, kinda like a Blackhawk :D

ok hydro...you're getting a little too sensitive! i'm just trying to figure this engine out. i can see that the exhaust is water cooled, but it still looks like a carb on the exhuast, but if it works, go with it. i just got done prepping my exhaust throttled 3.5cc ob and that pic just kinda caught my eye. maybe rc10 can give us some more details. looks like a cool project.

Nope, just a throttle. If you look to the right of the cylinder casing, you can see a carb without a throttle assembly. Probably has a remote needle for this one too.

Its a Exhaust throttle that is watercooled... No, the needle is on the straightthrough carb..
The engine was owned by a former all out racer..

again sorry for the poor picutres, the camera is really a video camera wiith an extra feature of digital photography..

You mean I was right? Was just guessing on the needle, as it wasn't visible in the pic. Boatdoc will never live this one down. Are you going to use the exhaust throttle, or go with a standard carb?
BoatDoc

do you mean hydro was right? i'll never live this one down :D where can i get an exhaust throttle like that?

Hey Doc,
Why did you think it was a custom exhaust carb? Model engine fuel can't handle heat :)
rc10gtisthebest
08-30-2004, 07:36 PM
I don't know if it was custom. I saw one on ebay a little while ago that was exactly like it.. The guy who gave me the engine was/is a machinst.. He used to build Turbines for RC Airplanes aswell... I have the chance to run with either setup so I will run both and Find which one works best for me..
Yes Hydro, You're right ;)

the reason i thought it was a carb is because it LOOKED like a carb. it looks like it wouldn't be too hard to modify a carb to sit on the wrong side. just plug the fuel inlet on the carb and you have an instant exhaust throttle. like i said earlier i'm used to the outboard type that has a butterfly and not a barrel type valve to control exhuast flow.

We aren't rubbing salt into poor Boatdoc's wound, are we? Wait a minute, HE IS IN THE ARMY, HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE IT :D
BoatDoc
08-30-2004, 08:09 PM
but i'm getting out!!! i need to learn to be more sensitive, so the salt hurts a little bit :D maybe what i had said just came across the wrong way. the main reason i'm interested in that throttle is for when i put an enging into my hawk hydro. an exhaust throttle like that would be pretty trick, and just enough to push that project over the top.
