Take a look at electrics. There is little that glow planes can do that
electrics can't. And, for getting started, electrics allow you to fly in
parks and perhaps even your yard. They are quiet and clean.
Now, if you need a loud snarling engine to be happy, electrics won't cut it,
but for convenience, they are great. I leave one of mine in my car
at the train station. When I get home, I head for the field, in my suit, pull
out the plane, put in the battery, do a range check, fire up the motor and up
I go.
10-15 minutes later I land, switch batteries and up again! Depending on the
light, I might be there an hour and get in 3-4 flights, still in a suit. Then
put it away and home for dinner.
Below I list electric planes for beginners. Some come ready to fly, some are almost ready to fly and some are
kits. All of them are electric. Whether you are finding your fist plane or
looking for that more advanced electric, you should find something here to
peak your interest.
If you are totally new to RC Flying, these articles may be helpful in
understanding how these planes fly

READY TO FLY STARTER PLANES
No building - they practically fly right out of the box
I started on an Aerobird RTF. I love it and recommend it highly I have
almost 250 flights on mine. It is a ready to fly package which includes the
radio, charger, batteries, and all. $150

ALMOST READY TO FLY STARTER PLANES
If you don't mind some minor building, these are ARFs, almost ready to fly.
You will need to buy a radio if you don't have one, so you might want to read
these articles on radios. Radios. The articles are written for sailplane
beginners, but all the info applies to electrics too.

These planes are based on foam and plastic which is much more durable than
balsa wood models. Easy to build, easy to fix.
