Well, my hammer was a piece of junk. The watercooling tube was pinched in between the radio box and the mount, the gas tank was mounted too far up and the driveshaft chewed a hole in it, and the boat makes a high pitched screeching noise, which I think is the result of a driveshaft needing to be oiled. Well, the little hex screw that holds the driveshaft in place was screwed in too far at the factory, which dented the metal a little and made the shaft not want to come out........I dont know what i will be doing with this boat...

ON THE OTHER HAND... I bought my dad Nitro hammer for his b-day, and his is awesome. We've been bringing it to the lake every day, its really fast, handles well, and overall is a sweet boat. No problems, other than the fact that his radio box was glued in instead of screwed and it came off a few times(glue fixed that). His reciever was pre-ballooned, and it is a blast to drive.
Flipped it once, and i was surprised at how little water got into the boat, and how well the engine stands up to water getting into it(We have a hole right over the engine head).

I guess my boat was defective or something? There seems to be so much wrong with it. Do you think my LHS or Aquacraft will give me a new boat, or is it worth fixing?

*Edit* also, i found the 6 minute run time insanely short....is there a fairly easy fuel tank mod out there?

I would try contacting the manufacturer and see what they say. With the popularity of the Nitro Hammer, I would think they would want to keep you as a satisfied customer. All it takes is one bad review to cost millions of dollars in sales. Saw the effects of a bad experience at a local Denny's restaurant a few years back. Bad service and worse food got a waitress fired and the restaurant boycotted by the local square dance community. The net result was a complete management and staff change before the dancers would go back to this particular restaurant. All that was started by word of mouth from ONE PERSON.

i had the same fuel tank problem. it's easy as pie to fix. all you do is put some rtv on the tank where it got rubbed, and then shim the front to bring it up a little. the screeching is from the drive shaft, but that's cuz you need to lube it from time to time. how often just depends on how much you run. those little boats are quite fun to drive, it's just that a few make it out of the factory with glitches every now and then.

I took the engine out and pulled the shaft out 3/4ths the way out backwards, since the place where you unscrew to pull the shaft out is jammed, and lubed it. No more squeak, but the gas tank isnt going on well. I've made 3 holes in the mounts, every time i try it doesn't work well. I'm bringing the gas tank up with whatever i have, mainly trying washers(the ones that come in the bag of spare props from aquacraft fit well, but i dont have enough for the back).

I might just send it back, its basically a big inconvenience, hopefully they will do something about it.
