Hi
I recently bought a MRP twin electric outboard Skater boat on a auction.
I replaced the original engines with 2 GM 21x1 engines, and run them on
7xSanyo RC2400 cells each. So full of expectaion about the performance.
I went down to the local canoe club and placed the boat into the water.
Carefully pulled the throttle and boat speeded away.
But when I passed more then 25% throttle, the boat started to chew air and actually went slower.
Tried to adjust the angle of the engines but nothing seemed to help.
There was no manual with the boat so I dont know if the previous owner mounted the engines correctly.
So now I wonder if someone out there knows anything about this boat.

Boat can't take the motors.Mine with 2-6 cells 1800's /stock outboards MS-3 MRP motors runs upper 20's-low30's and then runs itself out of water(cavatation problem) Tried everything and finally put it on the shelf. The Bud Dry cat will smoke that thing when the dual motors are installed. My $.02 ....

Thanks Decoy
It seems easier to move the outboards to a more modern hull.
But it is sad, the skater looks pretty fast.

Did you try to lower the outboards.

I have a Skater and remounted the motors lower. The boat screams! You may need to drill new holes but if you get it right you will be happy. Also bolt some traxxas titan motors on there, they are cheap and haul a$$. I really want to try the monster maxx motors but I dont think the plastic outboards will hold up. If you want me to email some pics...let me know.

I would love to see pictures of that boat! When I first started in rc boating I looked all over for that model but couldn't find one anywhere!

Where do you want me to send the pics? I have not painted the boat so it isn't pretty, but it's much quicker than I thought it would be.

Hi Zakerid
Could you please mail me some pictures of your boat.

So I can see how low the motors should go.
About the engines I have 2 insane engines to test.
Its a basic GM Evo 3 house, but the original magnets
has been replaced with neodym ones.
With a 15x3 armature and run in a dynobench.
The engine reached over 40.000 rpm at 7V feeding.
But I donīt know if the MRP plastic casing is going to break
with this engine.
But people are running Speed700 engines and they are really torqy.

Does your have the metal outboards or the new improved fiber drive ? The fiber drive is the newest model and is deeper mounted/takes bigger props/and has a deeper bottom fin/reshaped trim fin than the metal drive

I have the plastic outboards, and tried to strengthen the drives with little success. I wish there was an alternative to the stock outboards.

I purchased this boat when I was 14 (1995). This summer i fixed all the things I did wrong when , and ran it for the 1st time. It only took 9 years...lol. I am very pleased with the results and will be painting it when I get some free time.
I am running a RC-hydros ESC, and two traxxas titan motors.

zakerid,
Do you have the motor covers? I need one for my MRP. Will you sell one?
