I have tried running my hammer mant times today but it only is going like 5mph and it sounds like it is going to speed up but then it will back down. it will run faster at first but then slow down. And after about five minutes when I open the hull steam bursts out everywhwere. But the motor isn't hot. Since I flipped it it hasen't worked good at all! I have tried changing the glow plug and different fuel what is the problem? Fast replies would be great. Thanks.

That may actually be exhaust, not steam. If it is exhaust, then that would explain everything, as exhaust starves the engine of oxygen. Check your header gasket, make sure the header is on tight, check the exhaust coupler and zip ties holding it on. If any of it is loose/cracked/broken, tighten or replace the part as needed. Hope this helps!

I would PM Boatdoc, as he seems to be the resident expert on Nitro Hammers. Sounds to me like a possible needle problem and steam everywhere says you have a cooling system leak between the engine and the water dump, suggesting you are sucking steam into the carb. Those are my guesses on where to start.

Faster at first then slows down sounds like the carb is too lean. This can explain the steam problem.
A 1" hole over the carb will help to get some cool air to the carb, otherwise it is drawing hot air in from the header, pipe and motor from the rear intakes.

I had the same trouble with the exhaust. It would run great for about 1 min and then seem to start choking out. So I ran it with the hatch off and it ran better, but not at full speed. My exhaust coupler was split on the bottom. You can pick these up a your LHS for around $2. I picked up 3.

Try running without the hatch on and see if it is an O2 problem. If it is your header gasket, I experienced the same thing. Those 2 screws have a bad habit of vibrating loose. I did have to replace the header gasket, there wasn't much there at all. You can get a pack of 5 for $2.39 here:

Use silicone with the gasket then get some Loctit Threadlock for those screws before you assemble it. It will hold up well.

When I check the boat after the run there is always nitro sludge in the bottom.

A little sludge on the bottom is natural. It is oil that has come out through the front crank bearing. This is how it gets lubed.
