Could I please have the low-down on all the different types of hulls? (I.E. Deep Vees, Mono Hulls, Cats, Hydros, Tunnels, and Canards.) Am I forgetting any? Which hull type is generally the fastest? What are the pros and cons? Which run best in rough water vs. smooth water? Or, just any information at all. All expertise welcome and appreciated. Thanks

That link didn't work for me. Anyway, there's a lot of info to be had here. I can give you the quickie answer & others can chime in. Basically, the flatter the bottom, the faster the boat & the smoother the water needs to be with outriggers being the fastest.

Try www.shark-racing.com and go from there. If link doesn't work try a cut and paste. When I first got started Carlos' site sure helped me.

The basic boat for normal play is a V'hull. They handle rougher conditions better and depending on the boat, they're FAST.

Keeping in mind that my first boat was a 3.5 Tunnel, it was still a blast to play with but didn't like rough water at all.

What boats are you looking at? Sounds like a fun thread.:)

911, this posting could go on for a long time explaining it all. The fastest ones by far are the outrigger hydros. downside, not good for rough water. Monos and Deep-Vee's are basically the same hull with what is really considered a mono has a shallower Vee and these are your best bet for most water conditions.
Tunnel hulls and Cats are another one basically the same with the exception being of course the tunnel boat is mostly an outboard and a Cat an inboard but there are always people who try to change them. Cats can take a little rougher water as they usually have more clearance in the tunnel section. People like AC boats is one making a Cat that is made for rough water conditions only and they say so. Andy says that it was made just for that.
Canards. Not a lot going on there, they have more of a tendency to flip but if one is dialed in right, they are cool to see run.
This will help you to get things going.
