View Full Version : Whats Up With Florida?

Well Is Seems That Florida Has Done Something Really Bad To Deserve The Pounding That We Are Recieving This Year. This Has Been By Far The Worst That I Can Ever Remember.
I Have Lived Here For More Than 33yrs And Have Experienced My Share. But This Is Out Of Hand!!!!

It Seems That Charley Was Going To Make A Almost Direct Hit On My House A Few Weeks Ago. Then It Turned Just Hours Before. Then Came Frances, Well She's Finally Gone, But What A Restless Weekend. For Those Of You With No Experience, It Basically Lasted For Almost Two Days Straight. I Had Solid 50mph Winds For A Good Portion, And Gust Much Higher, With Tons Of Rain!! OTHERS IN THE STATE HAD MUCH WORSE! :(
Hard To Sleep With The Tornado Warnings Going Off The Whole Time On Top Of Everything ELSE!!!!
The News Was Really Avoiding Talking About Ivan, ( Thats The Third Hurricane In 30 Days Thats Heading This Way.) They Just Wanted To Get Frances Over With Before Bring Another Into The Mix.

Florida Is Really Taking A Major Hit This Year. If Ivan Hits Somewhere In Florida That Would Be Just Unpresidented In My Book!
It Will Take Florida Many-many Years If Not A Decade To Recover From This Year.

Well I Just Thought That I Would Put This Thread Out There For You Guys. Maybe Making This A Thread For The Florida Guys To Post In. As Well As Everyone Else That Has Something To Say. With The Peak Of The Hurricane Season Right In Front Of Us, And Already Two Major Hits With A Third Possibly One The Way. I Thought That All The Fellow R/c'ers Would Have A Place, thread For Some Info On Whats Going On, And Of Course Our R/c Buddy's Well Being. :)

Berlin, NH? The company that I work for had a paper mill there, Brown Company then James River, Fort James and now Graphic Packaging Corporation.
Living in Florida can't be any fun right now, we're just having unseasonably cold weather here in the Great White North of Michigan. Only 2 days so far this year of 90 degree weather which is OK with me. A ton of rain in the Spring but we don't have to shovel that stuff.

I live over here in Polk county. This was our second direct hit in three weeks. My shop where I build my boats and quaterscale rc race cars was moved a little over two feet off its foundation.Luckily, I didn"t lose any off my rc stuff. There was some damage to other things though.I have lived in Florida all my life and this is the worse I have ever seen. We all hope and pray that Ivan misses us.

PULLED IT OFF. HAVE TO SEE TO BELIEVE. LOVINNOTRO DID!!! HOPEFULLY IF IVAN LEAVES US ALONE LOVINNITRO WILL COME VISIT MY NECK OF THE WOODS THIS WEEKEND.
HE SHOWED ME THIS SWEET LITTLE BOAT THAT HE'S BEEN WORKING ON. I THINK ITS GOING TO BREAK THE SOUND BARRIER. MAYBE HE WILL BRING THAT PUPPY TO MY LAKE. (WILL NEED THE ROOM :D )
SUNDAY IS THE BOAT PLAY DAY HERE IN SARASOTA. THE LOCAL GUYS HIT THIS NICE BIG LAKE AND ITS A BLAST. THERE IS PLEANTY OF ROOM WHICH IS GOOD CAUSE MOST OF THE BOATS DO 50MPH +.

Too bad you guys aren't up in the top left corner of the map. Up in the RAINY Puget Sound area of Washington, I have races to go to the next three Saturdays in a row, not to mention the third Sunday from now :) I know you guys wouldn't be interested, as all the boats are SCALE UNLIMITEDS :D You SOUTHERNERS just don't get into scale like us NORTHWESTERNERS do :D

This is Florida's payback for all the hot women, great weather, and sandy beaches. Nothing stays perfect forever, it must be God's way of balancing things out I guess. Hey CFRACR, at least you got to experience more than 33 years there before this volley of hurricanes. I haven’t got to spend more than a few weeks there. It's paradise in FL compared to Indiana, we pretty much live in a cornfield.

CFRACR

911Dispatch -TIS TRUE WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT FLORIDA PARADISE & ALL. :) BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH I MUST SAY.

THE RUDE NY'S PACKIN UP AND HEADING NORTH IS ABOUT THE ONLY GOOD THING THAT I CAN PERCIEVE OUT OF THE WHOLE THING. IF CHARLEY & FRANCES DID'NT WORK THEN MAYBE IVAN WILL. :D

AS OF TODAY WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 8TH............................................

man why do they gotta keep hitting florida, maybe it will die out yeah fat chance of that happening, all we can do is hope it doesnt get to bad where ever it hits, and im hoping it lets me fly in

CFRACR
09-08-2004, 10:36 PM
WELL AS LONG AS YOUR FLYING IN BEFORE MONDAY. AFTER THAT, THEY WILL STOP FLIGHTS AND START MOVING PLANES OUT. THATS THE WAY THEY HAVE DONE IT IN THE PAST. ..................WAITING FOR THE 10PM ADVISORY FROM THE HURRICANE CENTER. GOTTA RUN........................

WELL AS OF THIS MORNING ITS BEEN UPGRADED TO ALMOST A CAT 5. SHOULD BE A CAT 5 BY THE END OF THE DAY. THEY HAVE CHANGED THE TRACK A BIT, BUT STILL A THREAT.
THE HURRICANE HUNTER PLANES CAME BACK THIS MORNING WITH A READING OF 210MPH WINDS 350FT FROM THE SURFACE. AS WELL AS LIGHTNING & HAIL BEING DISCOVERED. THIS IS OF COURSE OUT OF THE ORDINARY, SENSE HURRICANES DON'T NORMALLY CONTAIN LIGHTNING. I'M SURE THAT IF THE WEATHER MAN COULD, HE WOULD HAVE SAID. "THIS IS ONE NASTY MOTHER F***ER"

Man, it sucks to live in Floriduh this time of year! It makes snow up to the Wazoo look like childs play.
I just renewed my subscription to RCBM and noticed that it was heading to the "Sunshine State" also. Dude, they oughta change the State motto!
We've got a Storm Team 8 up here too, www.woodtv.com .

WELL IT LOOKS LIKE ROUND FOUR. JEANNE IS LOOKING LIKE FRANCIS. DAMM!!
I JUST PUT MY HOUSE BACK IN SHAPE. LEFT SOME OF THE BOARDING UP THOUGH, GUESS I GOT LUCKY THERE.

HYDRORACER, LOOKS LIKE YOUR GONNA GET ANOTHER HIT!! HOPEFULLY JEANNE CALMS DOWN. FRANCIS WAS A CAT 2, BUT THERE PREDICTING JEANNE TO POSSIBLY BE CAT 4. GOD I HOPE NOT, WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH THIS YEAR FOR SURE. THIS YEAR IS GOING TO HIT THE RECORD BOOKS FOR SURE!!! POLK COUNTY IS LOOKING BLEEK  , IF JEANNE DOES AS THEY SAY, THEN THAT WILL BE THREE HITS FOR POLK COUNTY IN JUST OVER A MONTH. DANG THATS CRAZY  .

WELL ALL I KNOW IS ITS GOING TO SCREW UP MY BOATING WEEKEND AGAIN  OH WELL, I GOT SOME SUPPLIES TO SCRATCH A OUTRIGGER TODAY. MAYBE I'LL START ON THAT, THAT IS IF I CAN WITH ALL THE WEATHER GOING ON.

GOOD LUCK ALL IN FLORIDA, FOR THE FOURTH TIME THIS MONTH.

Yeah, I'm in central Polk County (between Tampa and Orlando) and can feel my blood pressure going-up again! On the bright side, the Florida Forum "Meet and Greet" day (name thoughtup by CFRACR) is still a go; and there might be a surprise guest coming to the November 13th day at the Sarasota area lake. Also, lucky for me, my wife surprised me last weekend with a 30-minute flight in an AT-6-on the downside I witnessed the havoc caused on the Kissimmee, Florida area by the hurricanes Charley and Frances by all of the bright blue tarps on the roofs of houses around the airport!

Everybody hold tight this weekend,
Rick Eyrich

Thanks for the thoughts Rick. I bet that ride in the AT-6 was fun tho'.
so the 13th is the day for Sarasota? very cool I'll be there for sure. Heck, maybe I can have three boats up by then :D

WELL GETTING READY, WEATHER IS GETTING BAD HERE  LOOKS LIKE A COPY OF FRANCIS. MADE IT THREW FRANCIS WITH ONLY MINOR TREE LOSS.
JEANNE LOOKS TO BE SOMEWHAT STRONGER. WINDS ARE ALREADY IN THE 40'S AND PICKING UP. NOT REALLY EXPECTING MORE THAN 65MPH HERE BUT THATS ENOUGH TO TAKE SOME ROOF OFF. I CAN HEAR THE WIND HOWL OUTSIDE TE WINDOW. KINDA SPOOKY!! I GOOING TO TRY TO SHOT A BIT OF VIDEO IF I CAN. GOTTA MARK THIS EVENT WITH A MPG IF I CAN.

NO BOATING THIS WEEKEND FOR SURE :(

Its 8:50 Am The 26th, Geesh Getting Pounded!!!! My House Is Shaking Like A Virgin On Prome Night. CAN'T WAIT TIL THIS HURRICANE SEASON IS OVER, ALONG WITH THE OTHER MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN FLORIDA. THIS IS FOR SURE A RECORD SETTING YEAR. I HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY RECORD OF A HURRICANE'S EYE PASSING THE SAME PLACE IN A 30 DAY PERIOD. MUCH LESS THREE TIMES. GEESH THATS CRAZY MESSED UP!!
