Later  when I do decide to inject a little more power in my hammer  , how are the CEN racing NX-16 & NX-18 Marine engines? They produce .986 hp @20,000 & 1.184 hp @ 20,000 respectively. These sell for less than $100 from http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/MainPage.htm. I'm not very experienced with CEN racing.
What is the rpm range of the stock Aquacraft engine? Who actually makes this engine?
Who else makes small block marine engines. I know OS has a .15 CV-M. And I know Dynamite makes the .15 in the Miss B.
These are just what-if's I toss around in my head from time-2-time. :D

I Put A Dyno Lossi .15s In My Hammer. Just Started To Break It In Today. I Will Say That It Started On The First Pull. I Took It To The Lake And Started The Break In. It Started On The First Pull There Also. I Ran About 4 Tanks Worth. I Will Say This, I Noticed A Difference Right Off The Bat. I Like The Way That It Has Performed For Me So Far. I Will Hopefully Have Time Tommorow To Go Out To The Lake And Finish The Break In Process. I Can Tell That I Have A Way To Go Before I Can Lean Her Out. :d

Aquacraft makes the stock Aquacraft engine.

Can you put a marine head on a car engine and if so who makes them?

Does anyone make velocity stacks for these little carbs? I know they do for the gas engines.

I ported my nx16 engine and I run 30% nitro in my auquajet and this engine runs great and has not stalled on me yet with 3 qts thru it so far.

Is it pretty responsive and torquey. Heard anything about the .18?

I have an 18 on my AJ. So far it's great. Starts right up and runs very smooth. Only about a quart thru it so far, more to come this weekend. Just added a new cooling head and the Cen pipe too.

check this out. Maybe the guy will re-list since it didn't hit the reseve price:

You can buy just the NX-18 for $90 off of Off Shore Electronics brand new.

I saw that eBay item before and he does want way too much. He's full of it also, the motor does start better with the pull-starter than it does with an electric starter. I know this from experience. I put a starter belt on my Grey Thunder and it does fire up better with the P-S. It looks as though he removed the pull starter for some reason and if that shaft that goes into the crank falls out and it will, air enters and will kill the motor.
One replacement is the HPI .15SS motor, you can bolt on a water-cooled head from a Miss Bud and toss it in your boat.

That's another question I have. Can you take a car or buggy engine and put a marine head on it?

What about a Traxxas 2.5?

Anyone ran the OS .15 CV marine engine.

I asked the same question Ron.

Look about halfway down the page.http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitro/trx25/trx_trx25_engines.htm

Looks good to me, though the air filter is a not needed extra weight and waste of space. I would put a flywheel on it to smooth out the low speed operation.

Does this engine not have food low speed manners HJ?

All engines run better with a fly wheel. Has something to do with kinetic energy. In a fullsize car, a manual trans equipped engine has a flywheel around an inch thick with the clutch assembly bolted to it. That's a lot of weight to get spinning, even more to get stopped. Once spinning, the flywheel/clutch assembly wants to keep spinning, and the flywheel on a boat engine does the same thing, just on a smaller scale.

It will slow down accel. though.
I know the larger glow and gas boats have them though.

A little, though not enough to really make a difference. The lost accel. is more than offset by the better performance obtained due to the flywheel

the flywheel keeps the engine running at low speed. a boat engine has a lot of resistence on it because of the prop. the kinetic energy in the flywheel helps it to stay moving. without it the engine would stall out at part-throttle. you would only be able to run at WOT. anything less and the engine would die.

Is there a site where they've reviewed any of the small block marine engines?

BoatDoc is correct. When I started one of my car engines on a test stand with no load except a flywheel and clutch assem. It would stay lit. Then once I pull the trigger full throttle it stayed. Anything over 2/3's will keep the engine running, anything less will kill it. And plus engines need to have some kind of load on them during accel. so that they will not "over-rev". Which can be fatal to an engine. (trust me, a loose clutch nut and a 45k rpm engine and a 4 gallon old conrod don't mix ;) )

Now as for flywheels...do they HAVE to be marine flywheels? Can't we use heavyweight car flywheels to the same advantage?

Speaking of the .21 small block, this is one of them: http://www.extremercmotorsports.com/item--Ofna-Picco-MAX21-21-T-Maxx-Non-PS-Engine-OFN-51220--OFNAPICCO21P2
I'm considering one for my T-maxx, I wonder if it would fit in the Hammer...

I don't think it really matters, Bufferoo. I know Dumas sells flywheels that are supposed to be lighter to let the engine rev faster, never tried it. I think as long as the flywheel fits the engine without dragging, you should be fine.

I've never seen a flywheel from a 4-wheeler that has the weight needed. The O.S. flywheel has been my flywheel of choice. I've tried a few others but I feel that this has been the best one so far.
