PCM & FM radios [Archive] - Radio Control Zone

I have a 6ch Futaba Conquest PCM radio. It has a 7ch Rx and I have heard that some PCM systems can work with simple FM Rx's. I know that PCM uses an FM signal and it's only the coding which is diffeent. Can I use an FM Rx with this PCM system? I'm not getting any answers from Futaba directly.

The Conquest is a pretty old radio. Today most PCM radios can also transmit on FM/ppm, so you switch between teh two types of transmission.

If you radio can switch, you can fly with an FM/PPM receiver. If not, you have to stay with PCM receivers made for that radio as PCM is specific to a give mfg and in many cases, a specific radio.
