You can use this low cost peak charger. $19
This plugs into the cig lighter in the car. Lets you recharge at the field,
about 20-30 minutes. If you have 2-3 batteries, you can stay in the air all
day. You will need to put a new end on as it has aerobird connector, not GWS
connector. How good are you at soldering?

No where does it say what if any motor comes with the plan or kit???

Motor Size: EPS100C or EPS300C Power System

Looks like you have to specify when you order. I guess eps100C would be for indoor and eps 300 C would be for outdoor.

It also comes with in an EPS-400C option.

I'd like to pick your brain for a minute if I may...

I'm looking at the Slow Stick as my first plane. Will it make any big difference if I get the 300 or 400? Any idea what the current draw might be on these power systems? Will the flight time of the 400 be significantly different than the 300?

I've been looking at the Hitec X-08 flight pack (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGZU5&P=0) since I've already got a 4ch transmitter. Will the Multiplex X-08 speed controller (8amp continuous, 11 amp max) in this flight pack do it or should I look at something else?

That would certainly be good for the 300 motor and, if you don't over prop the 400 motor. Don't know what the gearing is on the 400 but with the right prop it should be 8 amps or under.

Flight time will be based on amp draw and battery size. You can prop a 300 up to 8 amps and you can prop a 400 under 8 amps, so it depends on the prop.

By consulting the GWS tables you can see the tested configs and the amp draws.

The GWS Slo Stick with the 400 motor has a gear ratio of 3.4/1 and comes with a 10X6 prop. With the 300 motor the gear ratio is 6.6/1 and comes with a 11X8 prop. I think the 300 is the way to go. It just responds and flies better with the bigger prop.

I also think it flies better with the balance at 3 to 3 1/4 inches as opposed to the recommended 4 1/8 inches in the manual.

About the battery... Is it necessary to use a flat pack? or can I use a "block" type pack?

Example: Two layers of three and the seventh at the end.

I don't see a problem with the block pack as long as you have ground clearence. The plane is a slow flyer, so the extra wind resistance should not be a major issue.

Put the point toward the front to "cut" the wind.

I feel shame to inform you that this packing to be delayed again due to the artwork section chief still not finish this project! :o

This guy worked in GWS for 4 and half years not even finish the box I wish to have our RTF on the way.:(

While I push him a lttile harder, but not even in bad maner! :p He quite and work for a new competitor! Hard to believe he can do things like this way. although I kept forgive his mistakes...:eek:

My son has flown the Slow Stick with the 300 and 11X8 prop for a long time. He has made it do things it should not really do. Different shaped packs are no problem as you have ample room to mount them. He just put together a 400 model but it has been to windy to try. I will let you know how it performs compaired to the 300 as soon as he gets to fly it.

Okay,

My son flys a lot of different planes, but he always enjoyed his Slowstick on a calm day. He purchased a Slowstick 400. It uses a different gearbox than the 370 and comes with a 9X7 prop. He did not think it would have enough torque, but tried everything stock. He is using a 1800mAh Lipo pack. He was very surprised at the performance. The big difference is the speed envelope. You can still fly it slow and train like the older Slowstick but it will fly much faster if you want it too. It will push over from inverted flight and will even hang on the prop but without ailerons the torque effect will take over quickly. Here is a link to a video of it.

GWS Slo Stik, one of the best trainers around. Also easily upgraded to brushless motor operation. Good for AP also.
