I would go for the 75 MHz radio. Why because it has 30 channels instead of six on the 27Mhz. If you choose a low end synthesized you will have the option of switching channels without having to switch crystals. You can purchase them under around $200.00 bucks. I like the JR XS3 radio over the others but it comes at a cost of about $240.00.

Channels 1 through 6 are in the 27mhz band while 61 through 90 is in the 75mhz band. Before 75mhz added in the odd numbered channels people were getting crowded on 75mhz. 27mhz opened up a bunch more channels for people to use at the time. Later 75mhz started running both even and odd channels so there is not plenty of channels to choose from. Most RTRs now come on 27mhz. Both have good points and bad points. 75mhz channels are spaced closer then 27mhz channels so the chances of getting glitched by a nearby channel is greater on 75mhz. But 75mhz has a ton more channels to choose from making it easier to find an open channel. 27mhz has wider channel spacing but there are only 6 channels and most RTR cars come on a 27mhz channel, so finding an open channel can be difficult at times.
