Nice pics...

What is the orange mat where your driveshaft goes into? Also is it better to put trim tabs in front of the rudders?

Chris LaPanse
09-13-2004, 10:33 PM
As for the trim tabs- I'm not sure, but it certainly doesn't seem to hurt.
The mat is the Iso-Pad shaft tube mount. It is from Warehouse Hobbies, and it allows you to mount your drive line tube without fiberglass, and you can remove it (the tube, not the mount) if you ever need to replace it.

Here is what the inside of the boat looks like now:

Nice boat. Wait until that 260 gets broken in. They have a way of catching you off guard, it'll just SPEED UP on you one day and bring a bigger smile on your face. Some people say they don't need to be broken in but you'll see and hear the difference.

And I thought it was already almost too fast (lol)
About how long might that be? 2 tanks? 3?
Also, you can find some vids at http://www.******.net/media.php?searchstr=user:6256&trick=Any&type=Any&time=1095133977&search=search&limit=10

Very nice rig Chris. I tossed a coin last week between the Manta Ray and the Magnum 57 and the 57 is on the way. It's been 23 years since I last had any RC boating fun and it's return has been way over due. I look forward to sharing my building of the 57 with ya'll. :D Chuck

:D

I can't say. WHat I can say is I was there when a guy that ran with our club (Jeremy) 260 opened up and I'll tell you this that boat went from about the third place boat in it's class to having the *potential* of being the first place boat. All he had to do was brush up on his DRIVING skills.
MIKE-T knows what I'm talking about :D .

Is your prop sharpened and balanced?

Chris LaPanse
09-14-2004, 05:49 PM
Yes, but not polished. As far as the engine goes, I probably won't notice it immediately, b/c my pond is too small for it to reach top speed already. However, this weekend, I am taking it to a larger lake to see what happens when I really open her up.

HD F150 SC-
I'm sure you will love your boat. They are incredible performers. Just make sure you have a retrieval method in case it stalls. When properly tuned, these don't stall much, but it only takes once. Also, did you get the kit, or the RTR? Post pics ASAP-we can never get enough of those :D

I got it in kit form, shouldn't be too hard to assemble, and save a few bucks for gas in the chase boat. :) I talked to Tony C. today and it should be here next week. I will post build and running pics soon. Here's a pic of one of my chase boats I'll be using the first time out.

Smokin!!! I have been salivating over the MAnta ray for a while now! Is the kit price that much cheaper???? And Chris , don't you have a Nitro boat too???

Chris LaPanse
09-15-2004, 06:25 PM
No, I don't. All I have (for now anyway) is an electric 12 cell 30", and this. This one is, needless to say, much faster. As for the kit price, the RTR is 1249.95 (-radio), and the kit that includes all of the same stuff, but unassembled is 999.95. As for the ease of assembly, I got mine out of the box at 6:00 PM, and it was sitting in my dining room assembled at 3:00 AM the next morning (but you don't need to rush like that). Expect a medium size box and a HUGE box (as in "look mommy, my new bed finally arrived" type huge) It is awesome. To anyone who likes boating, speed, and power (like who doesn't if they're on this forum), I would HIGHLY reccomend picking one up if you can.

Love the post Chris.

Your boat is gorgeous and looks clean as a whistle. Thats the way I like to keep mine. Once again, very good thread. :)

Thanks for the compliment, DD. Your boats are awesome too. Just glad I could share some of my boat. (and the inevitable knowledge that comes along with staying up all night building it)

Thanks everyone for the compliments.
RS4-they are FAR from slow. This thing has more power than I thought possible out of that engine. They absolutely FLY (and yes, i'm havin fun).
ejp-To get the kit, you have to order over the phone. It is 999 for everything except radio. They advertise it in RCBM as well.
