I bought a used Savage 25 off ebay and it says that it needs a pull starter or a roto start and I dont have the $ for the roto start but I do have a new 24.7 that I can put in. Which motor is best the HPI 25 or the XTM 24.7?

That XTM will blow the doors off the stock motor.. The 24.7 is a great motor. Be ready for some drive train upgrades.

you dont need upgrades w/ the xtm if u dont drive in the street alot, but if u do then you will most likley twist your dogbones all to crap, or strip your wheels and strip spur gears, but if u drive in grass and dirt and what not then u should be good

You will need the 4 gear diff mod. Post a message at savage - central to get alot better answer.

Im surprised that no one else is responding. I know alot of you have Savages and have experience with the 24.7, come on...Which motor is best to put in it?

I've got a 24.7 in mine and it's pretty good. Not nearly as strong as the GS .25 that came out of my SUT (which is essentially a 24.7 Pro), but my regular 24.7 is still quite fresh. I'm hoping I'll coax a little more power out of it after I get more fuel through it. Still stronger than the stock S-25, though.

Just an update, my 24.7 non-Pro is getting stronger and I'm really starting to like it! Way stronger than an HPI S-25.

Ive never had one but I hear the XTM is a pretty serious engine.

the 24.7 is going to be way better than the stock 25, the 25 is good for learners, but i would go with the 25, but that's just me.

My only problem that I have now is the carb is turned in the opposite direction compared to 25 and my linkage is all mess up and I dont have brakes anymore. The stock linkage will not stretch that far so I need some advice.
You just need to turn your carb 180 degrees
