I recently bought an EZ Diablo 120 with an installed Super Tigre 3000 engine. It's way more engine than it needs and I'm wondering if standard Futaba S148 or 3003 servos will be enough with this plane? the plane does use one servo per aileron. The servo tray was set up for the previous owner's old Kraft servos. Plane was only flown a couple times before. Here's a pic of what i have. Any help regarding servos would be greatly appreicated. it's the biggest plane I've had and so I only have standard servos for it.

Hi,
I would move up a notch to something like the Hitech medium power servos. The S-148 does not have a lot of torque, and the gears are a bit delicate for this much weight and power.

More power and I would go with metal gears. Don't know what kind of radio you have, but Futaba has some hi-torque digital servos that might work. I will tell you up front, THEY ARE SPENDY. They also use up battery packs much quicker than the normal style servos.

Thanks guys. Can you do me one more favor and link me to a medium duty servo online. Maybe at towerhobbies.com? FWIW, I looked at digital ones and they are just too expensive for me right now. Are hitech servos good? I've only used Futabas but I've been out of the sport for several years. Back in the day Hitech was considered chinsy, but they do seem to be more popular now. Also, do you think the standard 500 mah battery would be adequate.

Hi,
I have been flying nothing but Hitech gear for several years with no maintenance in over 150 flights with a gas engine. Hitech is some of the best gear going, and they have the absolute best service/ tech policy in the industry. Try www.hobbyhorse.com for some Hitech choices. Tower may have what you want, but there will be more information on the Hobby Horse sight. Besides, they are nice folks to deal with.
