Well lets start here... got REVO yesterday.... reverse servo is broken.... no biggie, call Traxxas.. have to send it in for replacement.. whatever.. disable reverse and plan on breaking in engine today.. Get ready to start truck... EZ start glow ignitor doesnt work.. YAY.!! Call Traxxas again.. new one on the wat.. In the meantime, use my igniter.

**QUESTION Does anyone cut holes in, or just plain cut out their windsheilds??***

OK on to break in or as traxxas calls it in their own DVD "BREAKING THE ENGINE"
after resetting needles properly so they are where they are supposed to be (each one is one full turn off) HS was too lean and LS was too rich
Tank 1: yah... 2 seconds 1/4 throttle.. just as soon as the truck wakes up.... OK extreme rich settings, blubber through it...
Tank 2: 2 seconds half throttle with body.... well we reached what I would call 1/4 throttle.. whatever.. still running.. but not very responsive like in the DVD temp is moderate not hot
Tank 3: 3 seconds half throttle with body.. same.. becomming a little more responsive, still nothing like the T maxx in the vid though..
Tank 4: Full throttle "dont let it shift" HUH!?! shift.. that aint happening anytime soon LOL not til we lean her out (I hope)
Tank 5: Stretching the legs through second.. nope.. still in first..

OK is this a normal break in for the REVO?? Temps got to 220ish range, and between tanks 1,2 and 2,3 piston was at bottom of stroke for cooling.. How did everyone elses break in go???

Sounds good to me ... You'll probably need to lean it slightly from the factory settings. They come set a little rich.
As for cutting the body, I always cut out roughly half of the body on all of my cars unless racing regulations make me go smaller. Just cut out the left half of the windshield and be sure to round the corners (otherwise it'll crack)
Good luck, sounds like you're doing well so far other than the servo and ignitor!

my break in went well, had to up idle speed and resett other factory settings upon getting the truck. after break in after leaning it about 1/4 of a turn from default the truck kicked into 2nd gear . i didnt get a chance to tune the Lsn or idle speed because i blew my one way bearing. currently waiting on it

edit: what is a hole saw a pic would be nice:)

I always put a hole in the windshield, you need air flow. I have had absolutely no problems with my REVO. I might change the engine in time, mostly because I prefer O.S. engines. I have had great experiences with O.S. powerful and consistant. At the same time I have heard many great things about the 2.5 so I am willing to give it a go. Here is a photo of my REVO.

i just got my revo and after breaking it in it kept stalling and running hot today i ran it the trucks temp. was over 400 found out they didnt tighten the glowplug so learn from my mistake check every bolt on the truck when you buy it.

upon fixing my first problem another took its place, the truck is great as long as it is idling or shutoff, because evry time i throttle it it bogs down and shuts off, i have had nothing but trouble so far.

You can do this to your windows as well.

The more vents you have running threw your truck the better off you aree these 2.5 engines like to run hot and having a fresh air supply helps to keep the temp. down. RED
