Has anyone tried the S-maxx tranny in their E-Maxx? I am thinking about it but I was wondering if anyone had some input about the benifits before I tried it

why would you want to?

sorry not to sure which one that is, but if it has an internal 2 speed you would loose reverse(unless the tranny has reverse) and you would need to add an extra servo for brakes

erm mate? electric motors run backwards to reverse the tranny doesnt need anything special. normally you loose reverse because the 2 speed disengages trying to shift down.....and loses drive hence the need for brakes as there cant be transmission braking.

however I was told the S-maxx used a clutchless 2 speed unit, which may work with electric motors......I dunno. there is only one way to find out tho.... :p

unfortunatley I dont know much about the S-maxx other than the official traxxas pics I've seen.....presuming it takes the same kind of gears(32pitch) and similar output shafts to the E-maxx I cant imagine there would be any probs, unless of course the shap e of the tranny intereferes with the E-maxx chassis tub?

but go for it, sounds like a fun project - and theres bound to be peeps parting out S-maxxes on ebay before long.....

im going to do that to mine soon. i have the smaxx tranny and im going to get the 2 speed. if it dosnt work i can just sell the 2 speed. i also have the break pads and linkages.

to get it to fit you will need to trim the upper deck if you have a dual deck chassis, or the chassis if its a single layer chassis. it has a bump and is longer bc of the break disk.

also ill be using a single motor so having the offset spur will be an advantage.

I dont think the gearing will be right, the electric motor spins MUCH faster than the Nitro motor does so its geared much differently. LEt us know how it works out when you complete it.
