i need a new spur gear
Is there metal gears out tehre? I dont think metal on plastic will hold up to long. And which is better a 52 or 49 or 46 tooth?

Hmm. As far as gearing, for racing (running bowties on velocity rims) I run 16/49. As far as holding up, I've run almost 4 gallons through my MGT and not lost a spur. I don't know of any metal ones, but there are some derilin(sp?) ones.

It's not worth getting a Metal spur. If you have a problem with breaking spurs the problem lies someplace else, probably your mesh. Spurs are plastic for a reason. So you break them rather then more expensive Tranny gears and stuff.

Stock gear is a 52T. The lower the number of teeth on a Spur the more top-end and less low-end you're going to get. Right now I'm running a 50T delrin gear. I find it's slightly more smooth than the stock gear, but that's just me.
