I am looking for a detailed review of the Losi LST. Something that documents hands on experience. How does the LST really compare to the REVO - in all respects? Does the LST have a durailty problem or are expectations to high? (example - a 13lb truck driving at 30mph hits an object something is going to break either the truck or the object.)

Please limit to hands on experience only. I have certainly read that the REVO is more agile and better on the track but that doesn't make the LST a poor performer on the track - or is it?

For reference here is a link to a quality review of the REVO. This review is excelent because of the style and depth of the review. Statmenets are based on expereince not expectations or what the truck "should" do.

Your help is appreciatted.

I actually own a Revo and its a fantastic truck, The handling is excellent, The engine is excellent (Despite the 2.5 haters club), The design is ground-breaking, Customer support is the best in the business and its also very easy to work on and maintain. The only things I have broken on mine so far is one rod end (I got some replacements FOC which where an updated design) and a rear skidplate, The skid was a fluke as a Savage going WOT decided he could take me over a jump by running straight up the back of me, Very clever .

I also have a little experience with the LST, A friend of mine bought one at the same time as his Revo, His engine has run incredibly erraticly and its been very difficult to tune, I've also spoken to other people and around 90% have had engine related issues such as metal fragments in the engine from new. My friend also broke something during break in which broke for completely no reason, I can't say what it was as I don't know. To cut a long story short he's returning the LST and is going to purchase another Revo. Also from what I have seen of his LST (When its run OK) its been pretty good, Its definetely got more scoot than a Revo and it handles good for its size, But overall performance wise the Revo is streets ahead.

So my personal opinion is don't touch the LST, Get a Revo.. But thats just my opinion, But at least its based on some fact :).

I have a LST and so does my dad. Have had no problems with my engine. I have raced it twice. Beet the a Revo in my class both times. The Revo stands no chance verus the LST in quality and hi-performance.

The LST and the REVO run the same lap times at the big races... Check the times before you make a stupid statement like that!

Perhaps you should also take into account driver performance before making a stupid statement like that . I can comment on the LST and Revo handling because I've driven both.. Have you?.

Actually I have driven both the Revo is just to small for most tracks. Can't keep up with big block monster trucks. Handling is good but not exceptional. The truck can't be driven at it's limits easliy for more than just a couple of laps. Where as the LST is relativly easy to drive. Has a little bit of understeer going slow but just get on the power and you will be fine. And with the LST you get a hi quality radio not just some 50$ junker. And who won the U.S. Gas Championship Adam Drake with a LST.

My Revo was incredibly easy to drive even when it was my first time with it on track, I was putting in super fast laps over and over again.

The Revo has won the Proline Maxx Challenge and is pretty much sweeping the RC Pro series, so the LST is not the only one winning big race(s).

I think its going to be next to impossible to get an honest answer in this thread.. the respective owners want to think they have the best truck out, and that its un-beatable.. true or not.. Theres an excellent REVO review, and I dont search much for LST stuff since I dont own one (the only vid I saw of an LST on a track, the suspension HAD to be set up horribly, but it wasnt looking good at all.. Like I said, Im sure it was a suspension issue. RC Nitro tests both of them in the October (November?) issue.. check it out. I think they are both great trucks in their own right... Depends on what you want!?!?

I had a Revo, and traded it for a Storm SUT. I've had a lot of different RCs...Doms, NQ, MF, Titan, Twin Titan, Marder, TMaxx 1, TMaxx 2, .21 TMaxx, Revo, RS4, Savage, Storm buggy, Storm SUT, .70 conversion Pirate, EK4, Thunder King, Mammoth, XFactor, Blazer, Monster GT, TC...so I think that I'm in a position to be fairly objective. Given that I traded it, I obviously didn't think much of it. The suspension is pretty awesome to look at, but otherwise, this truck did nothing for me. The real letdown was the motor... As good of a .15 as it may be, it still doesn't have the torque or overall performance of most of the big blocks. The other thing that bothered me was the all plastic drive line. Why couldn't Traxxas use CVDs on a truck that price? And, the radio (like most RTRs) is just adequate.
On the other hand, I've never driven an LST, but it's definitely on my want-to-get list. It looks great, and the radio is a big bonus. I've read mostly positive things about, and could care less about race results (not my thing).
So, given the above, my advice is not to get the Revo. I personally like the LST, but given that I don't have real experience with it, I won't make a call on that truck. You didn't ask about other trucks, but if you don't have one yet, get a Savage. It's incedibly tough, and you can set it up to do what you want... Sorry, I couldn't help myself...it really is a great RC.

Well I didn't ask but it sounds like you have plenty of experience - I may have to look at the Savage a little harder but I am all ready confused  .

I really like the size of the LST and that keeps drawing me back. I do not see this truck getting to much track time - no convienient locations for me :( - so most of its use will come around the house. Current competition around the neigborhood is a Revo and T-MAxx.

Thanks for the good info - If you have driving experience with the LST compared to the Revo I am still interested.

Thanks

If all you want to do is bash then get a Savage, They are tougher than the Revo and if you can live with the harder maintainence then its the truck to get, If you do have any intent on racing though get a Revo. Again I wouldn't touch the LST.

Monster truck racing was a big class at my former track ( moving ). Those guys were pretty serious about it too. From what I can tell, the Storm SUT was a very good handling vehicle and had good power for its size.

The LST when tuned up right was very fast, lots of torque, and handles the jumps well, but I think some tuning on the suspension would have helped. I will say this, the Newbies who had the trucks couldn't keep them running. A younger kid with his Revo had better luck.

Another to consider would be the Tamiya TNX. The vehicle performs very well, is tough and its engine is one of the big suprises out there. That vehicle was insanely fast and took a beating and kept going.

The Savage is a tough vehicle, no doubt, but when I got to wheel one ( mostly stock 25 ) it didn't turn that well in racing conditions. This would be a great vehicle however for bashing as it is really powerful.

Since you are primarily running against people in your neighborhood, you probably want something to smoke them down the street, so go with something with alot of speed and excelleration. I would probably get a Savage or that TNX. If for dual duty, I am leaning towards the TNX.

ok the revo owns the lst

now for my input, I have driven a LST and own a revo, I like the revo alot better, the LST seemed to bounce too much the revo has a softer suspension so it has a smoother ride.

Yes the LSt has a BB in it but the 2.5R has plenty of power to tear up and bash on the revo.

DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE DURABILITY ON THE REVO, I dont care what you may think I have literaly put my revo through hell I drove off my garage (10feet) and landed upside down on my body nothing broke, except a few cracks in the body. I have drive my revo off 20 foot + mounds and nothing broke I have owned my revo since july, have about 5 gallons through it and havent broken 1 thing and my 2.5R runs like its brand new.

Now price wise the Revo murders the LST

The only place I would tell you to get the LST is if you absolutely need a $200+ radio system, I dont need it if you want one then get the LST other then that Revo all the way. Not to mention Traxxas's untouchable customer support.

I also own a hpi rs4 so dont think im favoring traxxas

I have driven both trucks, along with just about every other one, and the LST is by far the best of the bunch. It handles better than the revo, jumps better and has much more power. I also know a few people with revos, 1 also has an LST, the other has drove one and they both agree the LST has an advantage. I would put the TNX second and the revo third really, all the revolutionary crap looks cool, but that is about it.

Is it true that, except for front/rear toe, the LST has non-adjustable suspension?

It is true, no camber adjustment, but it is not needed beleave me. The truck setup is perfect out of the box.

Just get whichever truck appeals to you more, and you will be happy. :) There is NO truck better than the other, just different. You see that with the divided opinions threads like these always cause. So, grab a truck and hit the dirt runnin'!!! Just get 'er done!!!

i have a revo and besides the OWB and my lack of tuning exp. the truck is great. i was having a blast this past weekend doing all sorts of jumps. for my first truck i am very impressed with its durability. i have not driven any other trucks, but if i beginner thinks its easy to run and maintain i think that says alot about the truck.
