Now that I've got the hang of taking digital photos and posting them, I thought I'd start a new topic where members can post pictures of their work benches/work area. I always find it interesting to see what someone else's work area looks like when they post a picture of a plane.

If you would like to share your work area please post pictures in this topic.

My main model construction bench (power tools etc. are on a bench against opposite wall).

The overflowing box on top of my boxes of parts are recent purchases from various vendors specializing in supplies/hardware for indoor planes — particularly those of the imported German variety. I'm doing my part to try to keep the economy from tanking.

In the post entitled Hawk Photo, you can see my workbench. It is an L-shaped set of the cheapest kitchen cabinets that IKEA makes. The long side of the L is 12 feet, the short side is 6 feet. IKEA makes drawer units and storage cabinets that formed the base--I left two gaps for knee holes so two people (me and my daughter) can work at the bench. I also used their wall cabinets above the bench and a large broom closet at the short end. The bench is in my garage (sadly no basements in Richmond, VA). The whole set up cost me less than I figured the cost of plywood, etc. would have been.

Here's a photo of my shop. I'm only showing you the clean area. I'll post another photo or two after I do some spring cleaning. ;) http://www.rcmicroflight.com/upload/shopforbboard.jpg
The bench against the wall under the cabinet was one of my late Grandad's first woodworking projects. He built it in about 1953. Now bolted to the wall, it is a good, sturdy place to mount my vise. I use this bench for oily / messy jobs that I don't want near my unfinished models.

This is my collection of goodies. I've purchased everything here since I started into the slowflyers/park flyers; about October of last year. I've been building models for about 20 yrs. now, just imagine how much money I've spent on this hobby! Note the digital camera (on top of the Pico Stick box) that I "had" to have for posting and e-mailing photos. This hobby is breaking me, I think I need an intervention! :D

Buddly 6,

That's intervention, not invention, you know, like they do with drug attidcts. Although a good invention, like, say, Microsoft Windows or something would go a long way toward financing my hobby. ;)

Hey, I just had this whacked out idea for an invention. It is two "blades" on a shaft on an angle to force air back when propelled.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!! it will never work :D
