Receiver crystal compatibility

:mad: With all the crystal controlled receivers out there both single (S/C) and dual (D/C) conversion and the prices on crystals ranging from cheap (for the generics) to expensive (especially Futaba) does anyone have any experience with the interchangeability of crystals ?? Which crystals (other than the manufacturers) will work in which receivers ?? The GWS single conversion crystals (UM-1) will work in GWS, Bluebird and Plantarco receivers (and supposedly Cirrus Joule) The Cirrus MRX-4 and MRX-6 supposedly use the
50U crystal and so does the GWS Micro R-8M S/C. I tried the R-8M crystal in the Cirrus and it doesn't work. I've also tried the Futaba & Hitec S/C crystals in the Cirrus with no luck.
I have a Hitec Eclipse 7 X-Mitter with Spectra and I'd like to get a collection of crystals with out busting my budget.

Crystals are critical to the receiver, so I don't mix brands unless the receiver mfg provides a list of which other crystals will work.
