Depends on what you plan to do bash or racing.
If you are just bashing a cheaper machine wound motor would be just as good: Reedy Flash Point or their 19turn Quad Motor, Trinity Speed Gems 2, Team Orion, Peak or the Integy line.
For racing use most guys use the Reedy KR in offroad and TC and the Pt for oval or older Ti's over the Trinity motors unless you have some absulutly good batteries. Even then most use a D5 or D6 round wire armature not the flatwire.

Taking an ESC to its limits is never a good thing, and you might experience some overheating. I was looking at the ESC (Duratrax) on tower and it was $50, I think you'd be better off with either a Novak XRS ($50), or an LRP A.I. Automatic Super Reverse ($55).

Well your pushing that ESC , not a good thing to do so with that said I would say to up grade the ESC to a Novak GT7 to handle the different motors that youll be using, RED

ESC have been used in instances where turn limits and cell capacity exceeded the the recommended use. Sometimes no problems were encountered but another cause for esc failure is not always the number of turns or cells being used but also amp spikes. High end escs have encountered problems from blowing FETS, Power Caps, or causing thermal shutdown when spikes exceeded the capacity of esc while still within operating areas. The heat problems encountered is not always attributed to going below the recommended turn limits but not properly gearing motor or having binding issues in the vehicles drivetrain.

why a 19t motor over a p94 16tx2 why would it be just as good my car had a 20t whats dropping 1t going to do

The stock motor is made to last a long time (cuz you dont have to change the brushes and cut the comm) so they make it low powered. A 19t spec motor puts out way more power than the stinger. In reality, a cheap 16t motor would go just as fast as a quality 19t. Get a Trinity Chameleon 2, Orion Element, or Reedy Quad mag and you won't be dissapointed. With a 16t, you won't get the runtimes you would with a 19t. This all depends on your batteries of course. And like racer234 said, it's never a good idea to push an esc to its limits. What kind of batts do you have btw?

Your darn right it's easier to spend someone elses money :D , but really if you want to do it right up grade the ESC, those amp spikes occur when you hit curbs ,. your buddies car , flip on your lid, and so on so protect your investment by using the best equipment that you can afford. RED
