Hey man...I Just ordered one but I'm going to be waithing a very long time for mine because of limited availability. How do you like yours? Is there anything I should know before I get it? What do you estimate the top speed is on it? And how big is it compared to a Savage? Sorry I know it's alot of questions but I'm getting excited and can't wait to get it.

Is there anyother tires for the Marder than FG one's? Thinking about a pure race-tech aftermarket tire.
I am considering getting one of these babies.
How are they as backyard bashers? I’ve heard horror-stories about chewing up the ball-bearings in just 10 – 12 hours…

No problems with ball bearings, but the diff tube will get destroyed because of dirt getting on the metal and causing all kind of mayhem (link to reinforced diff tube: http://www.rc-car-online.de/diffhuelse_eng.htm)
Also the front uprights are known to strip the threads at the bottom screw. Can be fixed with small strips.
Other than that, nothing. The engine last forever :)
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
Just one question left: how do I afford one of those things? :D

i raced my fg marder for the first time on sunday but it kept rolling on most corners even though i eased of the throttle (gas) is there anything i could do to the car to make it more stable.also this is a marder race but has only got a 23cc engine is this right or does it comee with the 26cc as standared.

ya' might try SWAY bars front and rear.... ;)

The rear sway bar is crap, take it off as soon as you get your FG.It limits the rear suspension and causes more roll overs.

How are they as backyard bashers? I’ve heard horror-stories about chewing up the ball-bearings in just 10 – 12 hours…
They're no good as "backyard bashers", at least not the standard Marders.
They have all plastic cogs (exept the two on the secondary drive shaft and the differential), and a plastic cog carrier. These are very weak parts, and should immediately be replaced by steel (primary cog) and aluminium (cog carrier).
The ball bearings are quite okay, but sealed ball bearings are better and not that expensive.
The most delicate parts however are the front uprights. They're plastic too, and are rubbish. The screws that go into them loosen very quickly, and it's horrible.
Therefore, standard Marders are not such a clever buy. I don't know how easily it is to get hop-ups in the States (FG and other), but here in Europe they're very easy to obtain. And it's necessary.
Espacially since most cars over here have quite powerful engines with almost 4 Nm of torque ... such power rips apart the car when you bash it without respect.
A Marder is only "good" when you add at least half the price of the car in hop-ups, then they resist a lot of bashing.

Cone racing. The grass was soaking wet, it even was raining quite hard that day. Imagine the car is 80 cm long, and then try to realise the sheer power of the thing. ;)

What are the differences between the Marder and the Marder Race.
Any info would be appreciated

The marder race has adjustable shocks, gear protector, steel pinion, adjusttable front arms, rear ball drive set, and an option of white or clear body. The marder only comes in white. There are a few others just can't remember right now.

what are big differences between marder and leopart?
Besides being more competative, I know the chassis is longer on a Leopard.
I wrote to a freind of mine who's had a Leo for a while. When he writes back, I'll fill you in. Sorry I couldnt be a little more helpful. I've had mine for just about 2 weeks so I'm still learning about it. :)

the reason i want to get gasoline offroad is...
really durable(nice), powerful!, and looks really cool..
and need less maintenence....
lol
i will work during summer...and hopefully can get fg offroad at the end of summer...lol
juntom10,
dont forget run times, one tank will get you roughly 45 minutes of run time.
Good Luck, hopefully you will get one sooner than later.
Here are the differences between the Marder and Leopard
Threaded alloy shocks
longer flat chassis (no kick up) close to on-road chassis
Front upper and lower arms and bulkhead
The wheels are actually a bit bigger and rims are off-set with the steel rings fro strenght.
rear alloy diff not plastic
raised rear end (uses a plastic spacer) so the gear doesn't sick past the chassis
radio tray is the same as on-roads
side guards and body mounts
front part of rollcage is a bit higher (1/4 or so)
front aluminum brace from the bulkheads to the radio tray is longer
New versions have ball drives instead of dogbones
Hope this helps.

hey TIG what is the stock oil weight for the FH or FG stock shocks ?
:) leadfoot, stock weight for HPI is 20 (I used it in both FG and HPI).
I bought a second set of shocks and they came with oil to. I think I can get one more rebuild and I will be out. I definately need some heavier oil.
