Hi Steve,
Since the server switchover, I haven't been getting any email updates to threads I've posted in. Is there something I need to do?

Thx,

J

At the bottom of the page when you do a reply...not a quick reply...there's an option for "Notification Type". You have to set that to subscribe to get notifications. Maybe when they did the updates your previous settings didn't stick.

Yup, check the options. Don't get email from new threads or anything. Will try the daily setting in place of instant notification.

The email problem has been resolved as best we can tell. It was a setting that needed to be changed when we switched servers. The setting has now been changed and I'm receiving all the emails.

did each of you check your profiles to be sure you're set-up to still get instant email notification?

Yes, I checke3d mine and it is set to get e-mail notification. I'm subscribed to 114 threads, and 6 forums. Don't get any notice as of yet.

thanks Steve

Good idea. I'd also like to be sure they're not getting block by spam filters because now they're coming from a new domain. If you know how to check with your ISP to see which emails are being filtered, that would be a good thing to eliminate.

Steeve....No firewall here....No reply :( From what domain do replies come from ? radiocontrolzone.com ?? If it's the same domain as your email address can you send me an email to rc10gt@globetrotter.net just to check if your domain is not black listed on my internet provider ?

It's working !!!!!!

I changed my email address in my profile for my job's email and I can receive private message so I guess notification will work :)

It looks like my ISP has blocked radiocontrolzone.com traffic emails :(

Anyway, Steve can you just send me some emails and private message just to see if it works well ?

Thanks !

Who is your ISP? You can change the settings for your ISP. Look into the options for changing the filter settings and simply tell them to allow emails from the RC Zone to come through.

Telus is my provider. I changed their anti-spam policies to now accept all emails but I still not receive RC Zone emails, may be it takes a while to process....

I have someone looking into it on this end as well. We'll get it figured out. ;)

Looks like all emails from xxxxxx@radiocontrolzone.com are blocked by my ISP, I can receive them at job but not on my home account !

StevePond
11-15-2004, 10:56 AM
That's odd. I would contact your ISP for a better explanation. I just switched to a hotmail address and it worked fine there as well.

slaf
11-15-2004, 11:02 AM
Maybe but the email notification is sent by webmaster@radiocontrolzone.com to my email address. If my ISP "blocked" the sender address this should explain our problem.

StevePond
11-15-2004, 11:56 AM
I agree that it solves the problem, at least for you, but why the sudden change is what's puzzling to me. I assume that you were getting the emails until recently.

Hard Core RC Guy
11-15-2004, 11:56 AM
had an idea, many ISPs will disallow domain servers because they are set to open (spamable) and if it gets detected they are automatically blocked. To fix it the ISP needs to have their third party (usually) domain checker to recheck the domain space. This happened at my company and our IT guy didn't even know about. If your server is open it can be freely spammed.

I'll try to find out the little details, oh and the re-check process can take up to 48 hours for some.

Later.

I was getting email until last week. I'll check with my ISP but Gone Nitro has a good point :)

Steve -> Everything is 100% functional :) Thanks !!! What was the problem ?

StevePond
11-15-2004, 04:31 PM
According to the resident guru, there were a few tweaks that needed to be made to prevent the emails from being automatically blocked. The server wasn't "open" as was suggested earlier, but there were some settings that didn't resolve, which made some email servers nervous enough to block the inbound emails.
