View Full Version : What is the maxx RPM limit on a Hacker C50 maxx motor

I can not find the maxx RPM limit for a Hacker C50 Maxx motor (12S). Neither Hacker Germany, nor Hacker USA sites list this info.
By its size (from the German site) this motor should be a C50 L (it is 60.5mm long), but Hacker USA say this motor is a 12S (RPMs per volt, 3080)!!
Now I am really confussed...
I switched form 12 sub C cells to 4S4P LiPo and now the C50 is getting supper hot. I am going to try to drop two gears (pinion) and put fans on to see if it would help.
At a full charge around 16.5+ volts from the LiPos this motor is spining at around 50820 RPMs. Am I exceeding its limit?

If it is a 60.5 mm long it could be the C50 8L this Motor IS really heavy on the batts, esp. in a (maybe too??) heavy car, the drop of a pinion or 2 is recommended, but by the way how hot is it ??
(anything up to 90 ° Celsius is OK, mine are running slightly under 90° after a 12 min + run, the magnets are up to 120° safe, but i would not test that out, a limit of around 90-100 ° Celsius is very hard on the on the motor, but it stays OK even after several runs directly after each other (without letting it cool down) the Motors doŽnt went above 90° (or only slightly by 0.5 ° Celsius !!
The RPM Limit is around 50000, so IF the Motor really could spin out freely on the load (with the car "on") it will be little overdriven, but that should be OK as it will nor appear the full drivetime !!

My understanding is that they didn't want a new can design just for the E-Maxx motors, so the S rotor and windings are in the L can. But then again, there has never been any real trustworthy info released on the motors.

Yes, they just put a "s" rotor into the "l" can.
I'm going to make one of my C50 12s MAXXs into a C50 12L. I might even put apart my Feigao 8L and see if I can use the rotor from that.
What't the best way to take apart this motor?

the frontbell should be able to get it screwed away, make yourself a Y piece out of alu and drill 2 3mm holes in the same shape than the motor has (same bore measurements) and screw the motor to the Y tool, then CAREFULLY put the motor in a holder and try to unscrew it, it has a normal right way thread, but as for the motor rotors my c 50 L rotor fits perfectly in my b 50m L can, there was no problem with that !!
(a s rotor in an l can tends to overheat very fast as the magnetic flux is too high, and it has to be shimmed very precisely, it isnŽt a easy modification and it does not exceed your motors performance overall, the spool up will be faster, but heat will be more and little more amp draw too, the end rpm is almost the same !!

I got email from Crish at www.Finedesignrc.com he said 4s lipo is 30-35% more power then 12cell NiMh and way too much for "this hot motor".
I think "melted" a C50 Maxx 14.4v by running it on 14cells, a Hacker Master Car Competition at unlimited amps and non-lubricated metal CVD.
Now my Schulze 18.97KW SuperMaxx occationally beeps once and I must wait a few seconds before e-maxx will run again. Both motor and 18.97 are not warm at all.
Is this beep over-current warning? I've ordered a new C50 Maxx.

HI Jon, NO Way You have Only A C50-12S Motor MAXX cells Is 12. NO 4S Lipos Till Motor Change You Will need Lehner 3100XL with Sch 18.97 SC . Then 4S lipo Is maxx , But It will Run Like 16 reg. cells. So you Need A motor that can run on 16 cells VOLTS Wise. Then A S/C of 100 Amps Or So Will NOT BURN out on you. This Is What will work., PS the Power Diff. is 30% More on just the Motors, The Lipo batterys Are 30-355 Moroe Power Again. 6S NOT for this Truck just way to much. Thanks Chris Fine

I'm using my C50 MAXX with the master comp controller and 2 2s2p packs and mine gets freakin' hot too!! I figure when it melts down I can get the Plettmaxximum and UF75 setup.

Upon doing more research, I think the Schulze 18.97maxx would be better for the PlettMaxx w/fan. :)

It seems like the RPM limit for that motor was 60,000RPM. For some reason thats what comes to mind, but I think thats correct. I wanna say its 10K more than a B50.
