Alright, well when everything is setup like in the picture, it starts glitching bad after about 20 feet. If I tape the receiver on the wing, it seems to work good. So, it seems like it's some kind of interference between the antenna wire and esc/battery wires. Ahh! Is there anything you guys can think of besides buying a new radio system? Because of the shape of this esc, the place it is in now is about the only place to put it so the body will fit.

I see that the receiver is completely surrounded by the batteries, motor, and wires. I'm sorry to say, but that's about the worst place you can have the receiver and the only place, besides on the wing. If I were you, I would still buy a new FM radio system.

Even with an fm system you can still get interference from the strong magnetic fields produced by the high current drain of the batteries. I had the receiver cable routed next to battery cables once even with the fm system it was too much noise.
What I suggest is that you try to get an aerial post drill a hole right next to your receiver and mount the aerial there (its always best to get that cable straight up away from those magnetic fields.
well that’s my 2 cents

I have a XX4 too, so I know how tight space is under the body. I see a couple possible fixes, in addition to using a good FM radio.
1. Mount the reciever against the shock tower, basicly right where the stock antenna mount is. At worst you might have to trim the back of the body. A smaller FM reciever should fit there, but I don't know about that Traxxas rx.
2. See if you can find a way to stuff the esc where it's supposed to go. If you can work with the wires I think you can get it done. That would be the ideal fix.

This might work?
Try braiding the wires from the ESC to the motor might help since they do cross right over the top of the reciever.
Make sure antenna wire is well insulated from the graphite chassis if it is made of graphite.
Can you switch the steering servo with the ESC and turn the ESC the other way? This would also allow you to lay that 7th cell in the tray helping the COG for handling. Getting that RX away from the motor and motor/ESC wires would help alot.

Another thing to try is mount the antenna wire so it doesn't run under all the esc wiring, etc. Put an antenna tube mount right next to the rx or somewhere on the front of the car.

replace your batts in you remote and try twisting the motor wires together

for got to add- take apart your reciver, like take off the box, and spray out the case so all the dirt gets out. that should hopfully help

Do you guys think an FM radio will fix everything?

Eh, I think the receiver is just bad. I moved it in a good place and it is still not very good. Anybody have a free AM receiver to donate? :)
