I would like to know if anyone knows the turns spec on the ep Hammer motor?

I'm under the impression that the esc is for 27 turn only, but don't know for sure. My current Hammer is all stock with 8 cell batt. Runs pretty good better than stock, but I need a little more speed ...ya know what I mean.

I really just need to know the specs on motor.

Here's what I e-mailed Aquacraft

Hi, I was wondering if you can tell me what the specs on the ep hammer
motor and esc are?

I'm interested to find out the number of turns of the motor and

the turns and amp limit of the ESC.

All I can find is the part number of both and it says it is the same as
the bristol bay boat, but don't list the specs or limits. Thanks a lot.

Here's what the answer was.

Thank you for your recent email. The ESC that is in EP Hammer can
only handle 27-turn stock motors. I have no information on the motor
exept that it is a 27-turn stock motor.

I wish I had a place to run it. My metro parks do not allow any rc at all. (they have really nice ponds) so I stuck with the river. It's not a bad place, but there are hidden rocks and if the hammer get stuck or disabled, I may lose it.

Here's a update on the motor. I was turning the comm, and ruined it so I unwrapped the wire from around 1 segment of the armature. It was as I suspected. 16 turns around.

Her'es something else strange, while breaking in the 1 I didn't ruin I had just cleaned and lubed the bushings and while running on 4 cells I slipped the metal flux ring on and the speed went down. I took it off and the speed went faster. Put it back on and it slowed down again....

What you think about that? flux ring?

The RPM may go down, but the torque should go up. Try seeing what the loaded RPM is with/without the ring.

I have no way to test it, thanks for the info. I will continue to use the ring (same as in my e-maxx)

Hey Guver what 8 cell batteries are you running and how hot do things get?

I use either the cheap generic 3000's or some old sanyo 3000's and the batt, motor get maybe 100 deg f. I've never pointed temp gun at it, but is way less then any of my trucks. Never checked the esc either. Too hard to get to....

no, the battery will get weeker and it won't be able to get up on plane, then you know its time to bring it in.

Well I either toasted my motor or my ESC not sure which. I think the motor, but Hobbico thinks the ESC. I tried it with an 8 cell GP 3300 pack. Ran fast as heck for a few minutes then slowed. When I opened it up something had been burning but I'm not sure what. I think it was the motor so I removed it, cleaned it and re-installed it. I took 1 of the cells out of my pack and tried the boat with 7 cells. It ran good enough to get the boat on plane but much slower than before. So what do you think? ESC or motor?

I am considering getting the Proboat Riptide ESC (http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByCategory/Product/Default.aspx?ProdID=PRB2314)and Multiplex Permax 600 (http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByCategory/Product/Default.aspx?ProdID=MPU332471)from Horizon Hobby. I would like to run all 8 cells with that set up. Any opinions?

I have logged many hours on the moters with 8-10 cells and no problems there.

The esc I have logged just a few hours on with 8 cells, plus I have also had a esc go bad too. I would bet on the esc.

There's not much to go wrong w/ the motor that you can't tell by looking carefully.

PROP question:

I have found a cheapo plastic prop for the hammer, but is available in 1" and 1.75 " (I wanted a 1.5" cheapy, but can't find one) My question is this.

Is it ever ok to turn down the od of the prop?
Is it ever ok to move the prop back a 1/2 " ? (about 1/2" from end of tube)
Is it ok to use the prop behind the cooling pickup? (about 1" from rudder)

I can do any of these 3 things to use my cheap prop, but don't want to bend the shaft using it too far back. Or maybe someone has a source for a real cheap 1.5 " props?

thanks

Hi
You can do everything you had mentioned. If you do move the prop farther out,be sure it dosn't vibrate too much . If it still runs smooth ,its ok. Octura has three props that can work on your boat . The X431 ,Y531 and Y534. All are plastic and very low cost(about $1.50) ea. I have seen them work well on your boat. n.h.schmidt

Thanks, that's the best solution yet. I will take a look. My shafts have been quite wobbly b-4 so I think turniong down the prop was better than moving it back and I didn't want 1.75 anyways.

Could you post a link of where to get those online or mail order? Thanks alot.

Yes There are several ways to get these props .Here is one Go to www.finedesignrc.com. Look under Octura props . He has all three of the above mentioned props You will see the X431 fairly quickly. The Y props will be a lot farther down the line. You can probably use then as is .I woulds recomend you also get a Drive dog to go on the prop shaft . It sure beats using the two nuts currently on your shaft. Also, your shaft is 3mm dia (about .118" dia ) These props are for 1/8" (.125")and drive dog too. You may want to wrap a thin layer of tape around the shaft to take up the slop. Don't worry this does work . Your boat is not a easy one to come up with a faster motor for. It's really too large for most hi rpm car motors .No place for a gearbox . A fair improvement over the stock motor is the Kyosho Magnetic Mayhem. A 21 turn long can motor .Real good in under these conditions .It is also easy on most speed controls.

Thanks, I found the order page and am ordering all 3 props. they should be quite a selection for me to mess around with. All look faster than stock.
