I was considering purchasing a set of traxxas titan motors until I saw a set of johnson motors on ebay. The person selling the motors claims they are better than the traxxas motors. The motors are selling for about half the price of the traxxas motors. Can anyone confirm that the johnson motors are infact better than the traxxas motors?

I have an old mrp fast cat that I am exprimenting with( learning with ). I have a traxxas novak evx 14.4 esc model 3014 I wanted to use. I was planning on setting the motors up direct drive using the motors in question and a set of octura strudder assemblies w/ flex drives #oc4str-ca. I have everything except the motors.

As far as I heard the johnsons will work, but didn't have the cooling fan and didn't have the flat machined into the shaft which is also shorter. If those 2 things don't bother then it should be fine to try.

Your wrong - the Johnsons (63706) he's talking about do have the internal fan but you do have to grind a flat spot - no big deal - that takes about a minute. There was a guy who dynoed them on another forum and his dyno showed the Johnsons had more torque and more RPM at 8V

UPDATE - I just put one of these Johnsons in my Shockwave 26 that had a Miss Bud prop in it already and I picked up 1+MPH (using my Garmin GPS)
