Yes, you are missing something. The Farm II is the finest off-road track on the entire east coast and there's a new indoor track too. Checkout Carolinas R-C website.

CRCC is getting ready to put in an indoor carpet track for the on road racers.

For the local off road racers that want to race a weekly program, there is several great tracks like:
Nitro Valley Raceway-Cherryville, NC (Sundays)
Charlotte RC Center (Indoor)-Charlotte, NC (Saturdays)
The Grove Raceway at the Hobby Stop-Rock Hill, SC (Fridays and Saturdays)

Here is a link to more info about racing in the Carolinas: www.carolinasrc.com

Craps- from what i here you are trying to mess up electric racing before it ever begins at CRCC. Why don't you just let electric be electric, and race with electric. This whole lipo with gas trucks thing is outta hand.

With the room left in the building, I don't see where a carpet track will go. If the offroad track doesn't have better things happen to it fast, the whole place won't be there this time next year.

Why should you care, you don't even race with us at all and it is obvious you have no clue what you are talking about because due to people like you, nobody was showing up in gas or mod electric truck to race, so some of us die hard electric and gas truck racers came up with the Pro Truck class that has been a huge success bringing back 1/10th scale truck racers in large numbers in a short time from 2 classes that were almost dead in the Charlotte Area where everybody thought they had to have an 1/8th scale buggy to race.

You need to take a look at what we have done with the Pro Truck Class and thank me for what I have done for 1/10th scale truck racing by keeping it alive in the Charlotte Area.

Don't fight it! Support it!

PS. There still is a Stock/Novice Electric Class at CRCC for those 5 minute racers.

bmelton
01-06-2005, 12:54 PM
And for what reason do you think I haven't raced with you? It's nonsense for me to come run some wack class that I am not going to race anywhere else. I still have my truck and race it plentiful at worthwhile events. I choose not to race my truck with some BS like that when I can run another class with 15 people all the running the same stuff. I came to CRCC once, with hopes that it was going to be the next good thing and begin running offroad again alot more. Ever find it funny that the only people doing the combined thing are you and the few you "lend" stuff to? There's probably a reason for that.

P.S.S- I don't wear a big head, but I graduated from novice electric awhile back, it just doesn't get me turned on if you know what I mean.

Oh yeah, there is a good crowd of electric racers coming Saturday, I suggest that if you want them to come back and hopefully help CRCC in the future, don't try and turn them on to this stuff, because they will laugh at you and consider the place for backyard bashers, which is different than novice.

I don't really want to argue with anybody. I am mainly for anything to get more racers back to the track in the Charlotte Area. Numbers fell way off in gas and electric truck last year with everybody moving to 1/8th scale or quiting due to lack of entries showing up to race in the truck classes, so Dave Mac and myself started combining and promoting this new class that has bought truck racers back to the track.

I am for anything to bring them back and get the numbers up along with the competition level to even help the so called occasional hot dog or wanna be hot dog racers have somebody to race against in the Charlotte area. We have alot of great tracks in the Charlotte area and it's going to take alot of racers to keep them in business.

We should all be working hard to get new blood in to the sport in the Charlotte Area rather than bickering with each other.

Good Luck to all!

PS. I don't know if you guys know it or not, but a group of racers in the area pitched in and gave me an Award of Achievement for what I was doing for RC racing in the Charlotte Area. This award was better than any race I could have won and kind of fired me up to do more to help. Every class has to start somewhere.

Most Professional and even Top Amatuer racers in all forms of motorsports don't attack sponsors of races they are in and trying to win the money the sponsor put up along with a sponsor that helped them monetarily on the way up the ladder.........A little advice kiddo.....tell them thank you! It will go a long ways and may get you started back up the ladder again rather than going backwards down the ladder.

This kind of attitude will never get a Losi or an Associated model named after you. When one of you get one named after you by attacking them for promoting and sponsoring RC racing I'll shut up and will be impressed with you! Till then, a thank you every now and then would be appreciated for my sponsorship of RC racing in the Charlotte Area.

Maybe if you guys would stand back and look at your attitudes, then maybe you would understand why the gas and electric trucks almost died out in the Charlotte Area and why you are not racing RCs for a living. Instead go to your day job so you can pay for the next race.

I don't blame you for getting out of this discussion and you would not want a sponsor or potential sponsor to see you blast a sponsor of races and racers for they're providing money and equipment to help along young aspiring racers.

By the way, the Pro Truck Class was the largest class today at CRCC with Seth Worbel, Doug Tudor and Will McIver taking home the money and like the very good racers they are, they thanked me personnally for sponsoring the race. You and Pace need to take a few lessons from these guys who appreciate sponsors for all they do and are going somewhere with a Professional Attitude!

Dude- you are not a "sponsor" of a race, you are 1 guy taking money out of your pocket to fund a class that would die if it weren't for your cash. I am glad you have fun with it, whatever floats the boat of your group, I will not talk anymore about the class itself. Don't tell me that "it finds a place for the trucks to run" because there were a whole class of electric buggies there yesterday that I'm sure would not have minded if electric trucks ran with them.

I would come and thank you too if I took your money, and they probably appreciate your efforts, but I'm sure more so the cash, rather than some nice guy with extra money to burn "sponsoring" a class.

Please do not expect another post from me, these are my thoughts and the explanations people have won't change them.

I thought I would show you this post again to remind you a sponsor is any company or individual that puts up prizes and or money for the a race or series of races as rewards to the race or series of race's participants.

Better stop posting and putting your foot in your mouth. Your youth, lack of experience and immuturity are showing very badly!

Just because someone puts up money or prizes for an activity does not mean that their products, services or intentions are good for that activity. If you look at NASCAR, some teams elect to not run every sponsors decals. Does that stop them from getting their own sponsors. Just thoughts and opinions of mine. I don't think I commented specifically on my opinion of what anyone is sponsoring or promoting. Just sponsoring in general.

You never know who might be watching your actions or who is reading what you post on the net, so if you a driver with decent talent, willing to work hard to go further in racing, keep a good professional attitude, help others at the track and promote yourself in a postitive way, the help will find you!

Why mix gas and Electric? I do not understand this!

Because in the Charlotte Area last fall the gas and electric trucks were almost non-exisitant around Charlotte. Maybe if anything bringing them together has caused us to talk about it creating interest and bringing new and old racers to the track with they're trucks.

On the club level or local race, what does it matter what kind of motor it has as long as we get new people and keep the old ones at the track interested in racing. More in class makes for better racing and a higher competition level for all to become better racers. All I want is the people to stay in RC racing and continue to keep having fun!

The gas guys came back and some new ones bought trucks and jumped in too. There is still some growth on the electric racers part to made and it will happen if we just quit whinning about nothing and just race. We are not racing for a championship or million dollars. We just want to have fun and enjoy a great hobby/sport RC racing presents.

I know Pro Truck will not make a national event status. It is meant to get new racers in and keep old racers from quiting on a local level. It is being kicked around on a local level in other parts of the country too from others I talk to on the net.

Let's all just race and have fun!

The electric racers in the Pro Truck class are all running li-pos and I have had them for a year running them. I have never had a problem with them in my 1/10th scale truck, but I have had some to swell up in the 1/8th scale buggy I used to have that were a mis matched pair of packs.

Li-pos or any kind of battery including nickel batteries, if you follow the manufacturers instructions by handling and charging them as instructed using the correct charger, you will never have a problem.

Great batteries for great class! The future is here and the rumors have it at a large RC trade show that some of the big names in nickel batteries are getting ready to market li-pos due to the increased demand of 15 to 20 minute mains for electrics.

Brushless and li-pos in 20 minute electrics are the future. So jump in early or wait till the cost come down. The choice is yours!

For those of you who were bashing craps on his pro truck idea I will have you know that it has made for great racing in the charlotte area. You should hear them guys picking at each other on the drivers stand. And the field is very even. Last sunday an electric driver took home the gold and that Saturday a nitro driver won. It makes for very interesting racing and prob gets the most spectators of any class. I comend craps for his hard work and his Sponsorship of the class. I met him through one of my good friends Derick Martin and I would have to say he is a great man to know and goes out of his way to help everyone out! yeah pro truck is great. Very competitive. I understand that offroad is popular in the charlotte area. I've been to the grove... the onroad track is a pretty small. Most of the offroad racers I know do have some sort of onroad car. For example, on the oval at crcc.... I know alot of people that will be getting oval cars to run. I think that if a onroad track did ever open up, there would be plenty racers interested. There would be a choice of either onroad or offroad. For now the guys I run onroad with race in the parking lot of the old circuit city on east independence blvd. Maybe some day.

The Hobby Stop in Rock Hill, SC races on-road and oval every Friday night and Saturday. Now the turnout is not that great due to lack of communication between the racers, but I am sure if you guys start talking to each other and agree on showing up on the sameday or night to race would really help start a competitive on-road and oval racing program at the Hobby Stop.

Craps, do Bill Cheek or Tate McDaniel still race up that way? They were big into 1/12th onroad back in the day, and would come down to run with us in Columbia from time to time when we had special events and enduros. And we'd come up and run with the Charlotte racers, too.

CRCC has just removed the Oval track and expanded the off road to be probably the largest indoor off road track in the US on a permanent basis. With the oval removed allowed it to be expanded to 75' by 120'. Pit road is now in front of the driver's stand and the old pit road is a spectator view stand. Big jumps with big air and a fast track!

Come on out and check out the finest and largest indoor track in the US with a fully stocked hobby shop.

Sunday, Electric Races
At
Charlotte RC Center

Doors closed, and clean air. CRCC wants to invite all electric classes, stock and mod, every other Sunday(s). October 2nd CRCC will host an exhibition race for all racers who want to race, and be part of the indoor experience. This race will be held for all electric drivers that want to promote a scheduled race just for electric racing at the Charlotte indoor race track. CRCC wants to start a point’s series for electric racing. Now is the time to come.
So drivers come and bring every off-road racing RC car, and race them with other drivers from the east coast.

I've been watching this thread since it's beginning and all I can say is "I am so glad I don't live in Charlotte and don't plan on racing there." You guys are a tripp. No need to attack me, I'm just an observer looking in.

Seriously. I live in Charlotte. I used to race electric touring at the Grove. Our group was a nice bunch of guys who just did it for fun. We had a blast. I used to help the owner out by runing the computer and calling the races. I watched some of the off road guys pitch a total fit one time. That turned me off on ever running with them. I wonder if its any of these guys who are arguing? Man, I was thinking of starting back in touring, but screw this. There are less attitudes on the paintball fields. And thats saying something.

Hey Craps. Why CRCC is plan on building out door track??The got nice one in doors.RobertBass

My quess would be to get racers when the weather is nice outside during the summer months and everybody races outside. I think they want to build an even bigger track outside to appeal to the 1/8th scale racers. They have the room in the field out back.

I like the idea of closing the doors for the Electric Sundays with the A/C on during the hot summer months racing inside.

You aren't the one TC racer in Charlotte, but you gotta be willing to drive if you wanna race. I know of about 4 guys from down you way that have been racing TC All summer on the asphalt and now they are running indoors on the rug...

But they are driving 2-3 hrs one way to do it.

Rosewood Raceray has both indoor and outdoor racing and the Durham track is a great outdoor track, but is done for the season.

Both have threads on this forum check them out...
