View Full Version : Need some help on finding a Deep Vee Hull
I wana build a boat with a deep v hull design in the range of 50" to 60"+ the only thing I want to stay away from is actually building the hull or doing any major fiberglass work I can handle light fiber glass and just about anything else...
now my question is there anywere I can actually get a pre-made unfinished hull besides ebay....ive seen some of those people try to charge upwords of $70.00  just for shipping which is insane..... any help on were I can pick one up or someone that may have one laying around and they wana get rid of it would be a great help..
thanks

Mike where are you located? (general area is fine) Reason I'm asking is because Priority Mail stateside will handle a deep V' up to 50" & packaged well. Example is I've had two Enforcer Super G's shipped that way with engines installed. Both was around $40 w/insurance if memory is correct.
A blank hull shouldn't be that much. I'd guess at around 25$ depending.
A suggestion is to contact the company. Ask them if they'll help you out a little in that area or even take a few bucks off the price of the boat. Promise to come back & spread the word about the wonderful service received. :) You'd be surprised at what you'll get.
To back up what I've just spoken, Warehouse Hobbies did the same thing for me. Tony C' understood my situation at the time & immediately took a 3 digit hit off the boat. :) They're a little expensive when it comes to parts, but I'll never forget the kindness they showed me.
well "Doubledog" im in Orlando Florida what seems to be a good place to be since they have alot of events up by the cape and down south ...
as for those shipping prices those were from individuals on ebay not really from companies, I also went by the book store and picked up a nitro boat magazine yesterday and it looks like there are a couple of companies giving free shipping with some of there hulls so thats not so bad..
oh and thanks to "Chris LaPanse" for the link to BonziSport holy moly im in love with that 84" apache hull. :D :o :D
I usually do quick buildups but I think this project will be one of those well thought out 6 month projects if not longer just because of how big the dern thing is gona be...
hey guys thanks again for the help

I think that you did great! 40 bucks! Thats a great deal.
My buddy lives in Port St Lucie. When I used to live in Coral Springs, I'd go visit him whenever I could and we'd go fishing on his 26' center console boat. What great times we had fishing :D !

Looks like a cool rig. 57" is large & will offer plenty of room. Hope its sound & doesn't take much work to get going. What are your ideas for power?
Here's a link to some of the guys that I run with. Keep telling myself that different strokes for different folks because these guys get crazy.

Heres a few from a yearly gathering a few hours away. Huge event.

well im thinking about 2 twin Zenoah’s they look like very nicely built engines w/boat loads of power and I really like there machined alloy props... oh yea and there is the lil thing about learning how to run a nitro engine's which I have no experience what so ever ive only ran electric trucks before this :(
I still have to take a look at the boat and lay down a plan for build up, one thing I do want is a wild and trick paint job...
Hey bud those were some great pictures and huge boats...: eek:

You can't go wrong with the Zeni's. They're gas & much less tempramental than nitro.
Is this your first boat?
actualy yea it is my first boat. :o .. do you fellas have any advice as to were should I start on my build up
lol I know you boat guys are gona hate me but the only reason I wanted a boat was just to match my 1/10 scale truck :D
and actualy im kinda new to the whole RC thing I got my first truck in april then I built my crawler and as you can see im still waiting for parts to finish my mini-t.. so i think a boat would set the icing on the cake :D

You know how two of anything is... twice the headache. Cool factor is up there though. With that, my suggestion is to start with one engine. You're not going to gain much speed with two vs the single. Drop a stock 260 in there & it will do fine. If it bores you, then mod it and get a noticeable kick. (I've got a brand new one getting done now.)
These boats are simple. All you need now is the hardware, engine & tank. No problem & easily attainable for little $'s.
well i picked up the boat I baught today and I also scored a very nice smaller boat

Nice! What's the story on the sabre?

Lets evaluate this a little further shall we.
You paid 40 bucks for the large rig? Nice.
Kinda envious.
Im not sure whats the story on the Sabre, but it's in very good conditions in and out just needs motor and hardware..
and as for the tripple B well that needs a bit more work everything on the inside looks like crap so im probably gona gut the inside and smooth it out im also gona strip the out side and do a a lil body work and start looking for hardware and a motor..
the guy i baught the boats from is part of the Namba district3 race circuit and has sense then changed to racing hydros...

I'd agree with DD - if you can keep it to under 25lbs, it should do mid 30's on a stock zen 260pum. No need for duals.
So what do you guys think I can put in the Sabre it looks like it's set up for a single engine but since I dnt have a clue on what kind of gas engine to start with im just twiddaling my thumbs..
I added a quick shot of what the sabre looks like on the inside :D

That boat will not take much to get going. Have you found a powerplant yet? I know of some Homilites for around 100 bucks. Keep in mind, its not going to have the power of a stock Zen, but it will be a fun.
You obviously can work metal, so you can build your mounts fairly easy. Just takes some imagination. Buy the rubber insulators for cheap & thats pretty much it.
Drive line is fairly easy too.
Radio box. Can you glue some sheets of wood together? See what I mean. For a first time rig it doesn't have to be easy on the eyes.
Have I said this is fun? :)

The sabre looks like it was setup for a Nitro due to the Octura Engine Mount..
-Todd
thanks guys I really dont mind spending somewere in the range of $250 for a motor in the sabre since all i really need is a motor, shaft, prop, and radio gear... I think most of my money will probably go into the Triple B since the only thing im keeping is the hull and everything else is getting stripped out and re-done...
and as for the Sabre motor what should I get im looking for something I can just drop in there with very little modifications to the mounts and lines?
