I don't recomend anyone else do this, but I just ordered some really cheap lipos from http://home.comcast.net/~truerc/

They are 2100/4000mah cells for $10/$15 each. It's dirt cheap.

These are not made into packs, they are bare cells. And they are NOT tested and proven to verify a certain level of performance. There are no guarantees, but they are supposed to perform like the gen 1 lipos from a year ago or so, like 4-5C. But there are no tested #s yet.

The 2100 cells have been tested at 11 amps (5.2C) holding 3.2V per cell about a 30% into the discharge time. I hope that's good

I either got a bargain, or threw money out the window...

Well, I just got a package of lipo cells. They look suspiciously like Hersey bars. I think I bought really expensive chocolate.

Really, now I need to do something with them...

I thought I would add that since I ordered these, I have found a couple new cells that are now available that would be better, imo. There are a couple others that are a little more expensive, but should have much better performance and thus give the option of using a smaller, lighter pack.

With the ones I just got, I might have to run a bigger pack than I would like to, so I don't push the cells too hard. The plus side is that the big pack should give plenty of juice to run a 20 minute main in the 1/8 buggy without a battery swap.

One more thing... this is where I got the lipos http://home.comcast.net/~truerc/

These 4000mah cells are just barely to wide to fit in a newer Losi/AE battery tray. With a slight modification I think I can shoe-horm them in. They fit fine in my older Losi XX cars though.

For these cars, the lipos could make a battery 7.4V 8000mah for $60 plus DIY assembly.

One of the other cheap lipos are now at www.maxamps.com and they are much higher performance cells, and they will assemble packs for you for only $1 per cell extra.

I will be talking to them about getting a pack of these...
