Has anyone gotten hold of one of those chargers yet? Lots of LHS carry them already. For the price it looks like a real bargain... I am mostly interested in the performance with li-pos... and since most li-pos users run brushless I thought I would post in this forum. So how does the charger perform? And does it discharge as advertised(even though there should not be any need to discharge lipos...) ?
Discharge Cut-Off Voltage: 0.8-1.1V per cell NiCd & NiMH
2.5-3.7V per cell Li-Ion/Li-Po

I just brought one home from my LHS yesterday! :D
It looks very promising, indeed... I haven't heard of anyone using it with lipos yet. And I don't have lipos to play with... yet.
I have some lipo cells coming later this week, but I will have to find time to make up a pack, etc. I won't have any reports for a while anyway.
I tried it last night with plain old 6 cell packs. GP3300 and some old 2000 packs. It's a pretty cool little charger, even if you don't use it for lipos.
I wish it had a cool blue backlit screen like the GFX though. There are a couple little picky things that could be addressed, and it would be an awesome charger.
1. backlit screen
2. led "charge" indicator light... just so you know it's still charging without having to read the screen menu.
3. brand other than Duratrax :o
Stuff like that.....
We need to know what is the peak Amp this charger can do for a 4S - 14.8 volt pack - as far as I understood 4S being the max volt for lipo on this charger -

Yes, it only does up to 4s packs. The max current is 8.0 amps. It's supposed to do a full 8 amps even for the 14.8v. Actually, with lipos, it will only do a 1C charge, so it will do 8A if the pack is 8000mah.
I think you can fool the settings though....
8 Amp @ 14.8 volt is a pretty good charge rating.
Way better than my 2.5 Amp max triton for almost the same price...
Seems like a good value to me.

It is a good rate. I can't wait to get my lipos and see how it does in reality, and not in the manual. ;)
Actually, I can try a test with nickels and see how it does maxxed out on them. When I get home tonight...

I've ran a few cycles with the ice on my nicds and nimh cells, and i'm very impressed with this charger. hav'nt used it for lipolys yet, but after the results so far, I can't think of a better charger for the price. the other charger companys will need to step up, or duratrax will end up being the dominant force in chargers. my only complaints are a cheesy feel/action of the control knob, and data accuisition. if you hit the back button, the charge/discharge graph is erased forever...ooops. would like a prompt before it deletes it. overall, though, it's only competition that i see is the gfx - and that doesn't do lipolys........and its $300 more!
