Hey I just got my warrior 7018 and lehner 4200 combo and I am really excited. I have waited about 6 months for it because lack of funds and getting in trouble with my parents. But it is here I have not even solder the cables (dont want to test my skills on a $200+ setup) so I will wait for my dad to get home. I will be running it in my rusty with 6-12 cells. I will keep you guys updated.
Just wanted to say thank you guys for all your help!

Yeah pretty strong trany. I have a Rusty with alum. idler. It wont be a problem since others have ran this motor without problems.

Three days and its dead? Thats no good at all. What happened to it, does it smell burnt?
Did it get wet? How was the temperature...

How long are the wires from the controller to the battery pack?

what tooth pinion, spur, and what's the tranny's ratio? 2.5:1? What size tires?

Those tires are a little rough on motors and controllers. the final on the rusty is 2.72:1 so you were running a 13.92:1 ratio which sounds pretty descent. TheSteve has a good question, how long are the battery wires and motor wires? What kind of connectors are on each? Are the motor wires well insulated from one another? How many cells were you running? I run the same motor in my T3 but I don't own the Lehner controller. Hope you get it sorted out.

Battery wires are the normal length from the factory. I used deans on the battery wires. Motor wires were lengthened about 4 inches and were direct soldered. Everything was insulated, 6 cells.

something was either wrong with your esc, or you did something wrong. I have ran 3 warrior 70s in xxxt t4, b4, and xxx4, with some crazy bashing for almost 2 yrs. I never direct sodder though, used the 3.5mm gold connectors

Ok, thanks. I am preatty sure I did not do anything wrong. I will use the plugs this time around. Do they have much more resistense than direct soldering. Have you ever had problems with your plugs coming out or causing problems?

Good plugs won't add enough resistance to ever notice, IMO. The gold pins or Deans Ultras don't have much more resistance than wire of the same length.
And they are WAY better than a bad solder joint done in a hurry etc.
There's nothing wrong with hardwiring, but it has to be done right, every time.

Yeah that is why the soldering was done by the hobby shop.

Sorry.. I missed that it was only the motor that was hardwired. I definitely don't have any problem with that. All my motors are always hardwired.
I was thinking of the battery....
Good thing in your case is that it's only a week old and odds are they will take care of it under warranty. Yes, it still bites... but at least you should have it back soon and you didn't burn a $200 bill.

Yeah, everything sounds fine, unless it somehow got a little dirt or something it. Hopefully it will be replaced under warranty and shipping will be fast.

Thanks guys, I guess I will handwire the motor again?

Were the sockets removed from the motor by the hobby shop, and if so....how? Some people just don't know not to cut the motor wires.

No the sockets were not removed. They just put solder on the wire and inserted it in the socket and heated up the socket.

Does the 4200 series motor come with 3.5 or 4mm gold plugs?

You have to put your own gold plugs on it.

I thought that the Basic motors come with 3.5mm plugs? I believe that Jamie told me that...

I just got my BL running and one of my reciever channels went out (steering). Off to Novak for the reciever. So another week of staring at my truck :( But no cogging and smooth running in a straight line though. :)

Only if the place you bought it from put them on for you. I soldered mine on myself. I put the 4mm plugs on.

The Basics do come with 3.5mm sockets installed......backwards from everyone else in the industry for some reason.

I have the 5300 and it had no sockets what so ever on it when I bought it.
