I was just given a PG Gerasis Ventus 2C 3.6M scale sailplane that is in need some some repairs. The fuselage is broken in a bunch of places and it has been fixed a number of times before. [&o] But the price was right, so for some work on my part I will have my first scale plane. [:D]

I will post some photos of the damage later.

This is the plane:

If you have one of these, I could use your help:

I don't have a manual, so I will need some advice on surface throws, CG and anything else you can provide.

Also need to find a wing rod for it. Again, any help would be great.

I plan to set it up for Aerotow and for Winch launching.

Anyone care to share your experiences, good or bad, with this plane? Any weak areas I should know about?

There is no landing gear. It has flaps and Ailerons. There were airbrakes but they have been removed and the opening covered over. Should I consider reinstalling them?

Thanks for any help or insights you can provide.

Guys,

I am going to finish the Ventus 2C Saturday with first flights planned for Sunday.

Need some launch and landing advice.

Aerotow settinngs:
30% flaps?
15% droop on the ailerons?
Suggestions on the elevator?

On tow release, should I tie the tow release to the launch settings so when I release I go to normal flight settings automatically? Or should I change to flight settings before I release?

On landing do you typically use the flaps? How much, typcially? I know this is not a TD contest ship where I am going to try and bring it to a crawl for a pinpoint landing.

50% flaps typical? Elevator compensation I presume? Keep up the speed on landing?

Flare?

Any advice on launch and land are appreciated.

First flights should avoid flaps on tow Since this is a few months old how'd that first flight turn out and how is it doing now?

First attempts happened in August.

First flight was near disaster. CG was set to wrong point. Too far back. Landed with only minor issues.

Second attempt, trolly hit a divit in grass runway and we cartwheeled the plane. Again only minor damage

Third attempt in October - Three good flights. we did use the flaps.

I would say it is far from perfectly trimmed but it flies! :) beautiful in the air.

Kite shops are great for metric rods!
