Can RC Boat engines be held at W.O.T. for extended amounts of time? Or are they only designed for 5-6 sec bursts like RC CAr engines?
Finally got my KB 7.5 Exhaust throttle engine running, and GEEZE! Loud...
Thanks,
todd

yes, the RPM band is controlled by the exhuast.
I just strated the engine and it was kinda scary when it was at WOT. I didn't want to drop a rod or anything. And haveto buy a whole new engine.

As long as they're under load, they can run at WOT for as long as you want.
I.E - not on the stand, but in the water.

those exhaust throttles are a lot of fun. they don't always run well below WOT, and the needle can get touchy. but once you have it set up it'll be a blast.

So Scorp, do you remember that line in a movie or in a song or both?

Great words to live by. I usually go all out in everything. It doesn't help that my wife says that I have adult ADD :D

I guess you had to be there. Those are words from a Neil Young song.

Which N. Young song? I'm not familiar with it. The one I'm referring to is Def Leppard's Rock of Ages off of the Pyromania album. The main bad guy on Highlander (the movie) also said it.

I believe it was "Into the Black" by Neil Young.

If you like that one by Neil, then you'd love the cover that Oasis did of it on one of their live cd's.

Is it as good as Cheryl Crows cover of Sweet Child 'o Mine?
She descecrated that song. So did Celine Dion covering Shook Me All Night.
The funniest cover I've heard, excluding Smooth Criminal, is Dolly Parton covering Shine from Collective Soul.

Burny, just thinking about those almost makes me loose my breakfast. Cheryl ripped that one to shreds & tossed it in the trash. Celine.... that bag of wind. She sings two ways,,, low or yelling. Joking, but she seems to be the national anthem leader for women as most
in my family have her cd's. LOL.
I'm not a big fan of them (cover songs) because it takes away the orriginality, but OASIS did a real good job as well as a few others that don't come to mind right now. :D

Hey DD, do they play Celine around you or do they wait till your not around?
Alien Ant Farm did a great cover and a great video to Smooth Criminal. (very funny)

Alot of people like Metallica's cover of Tuesday's gone with the Wind and Turn the Page. When I want my Metallica that just doesn't fill the bill. I want. I do however, like their cover of Whisky in a Jar.
Korn's cover of One had great music, but his voice really doesn't fit. I haven't gotten to hear Marylin Manson's cover of Sweet Dreamsby the Eurythmics.

Fine Young Cannibals --- a lot of people don't realize that they did a few Elvis songs just with a reggae twist. The Metallica covers... I'm 50/50 considering there old stuff is more appealing. Strange were on this subject because last night I was listening to some Led Zepplin & it made me shake my head at how many songs of theirs has been 'sampled' in one way or another. Now talking about Celine again... brother, here in Germany especially, they love the socks off her. It seems like there's not much diversity between radio stations & you find three or four channels that have her blairing away. Can't run from it.

Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl" is one of my favourite songs...until I heard Type O Negative's version of it. Blows the original away in my view. I've heard MANY covers that were better than the original. I find that many time the original version is VERY dated and whent hey get re-done they get a fresh new face that make the song live a little longer.
As for Celine...I hate to have to admit I'm from the same country as she is...almost. She is from Quebec after all. I just can't understand how she needs to pound on her chest through even the most unemotional song. I just don't get the appeal of that woman.

Some covers are better than the originals, but when you do like Cheryl Crow and take Sweet Child o Mine and put powdered sugar all over it, it just leaves you sick at your stomach. She didn't have any riffs in it either. The only one similar to that that I thought was actually funny was on the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Someone was singing Down with the Sickness while they were in the mall. It took me a while to recognize it because it sounded like elevator music.
What is the new crappy cover Brittney Spears is singing?

That would be Bobby Brown's "My Perogative"....and unfortunately it's about the same quality as the original. ;)
Cheryl Crow? I like HER music but she really should stay away from covers. When I heard an accordian in her version of D'y'er Maker a little piece of me died that day. :D
As for "Puff Daddy" (or whatever he thinks is cool to be called this week) his only real talent lies in getting people to think he's talented. Let's see...take a huge hit song...change the lyics...add a little extra bass....get another "star" to perform it...hey we've got a hit here.
There's a difference in reMAKING a some and reDOING a song. If you take the original and give it your own feeling but leave the essence alone...I'm fine with that. When you take a song, rip in in half, inject it with some new poison and try to pass it off as something new...nope, I'm not gonna buy that one.
Back to engines for a moment...I happen to have an OS 12 CV (in a boat) that has at least 98% of it's running life spent at WOT with the rest being spent on the stand at idle getting started. 3+ gallons through it and it's still going strong. I've never replaced so much as a single part of it so far and it starts and runs like a champ. As long as you keep a load on it WOT is the way to run (for boats that is). :D

We run modded Zenoahs full bore for a six-lap heat and then one more lap in the "cool down" (still racing just for grins in the cool-down lap). They don't complain so long as everything's kosher with oil, carb settings, and cooling water.

I just heard on VH1 on least metal moments that Avril Lavigne covered Fuel from Metallica! Make it stop! Make it stop!

I say pour salt water on it DD. ;)
The worst thing about it was James, Lars, and the gang was in the audience and they were digging it. She also said that she had only recently gotten into Metallica. If she just has to cover one of theirs then she should have to sing one from St. Anger. That album sucks anything could help it.
Did Jason their x-bassist go to Ozzy? I know that is where their new bassist is from.
