Hey guys. Well i got my LST out today to see if I could run alittle. Now I will give you the details of everything so you know exactly whats going on. First it is used and looks almost brand new! It was only supposed to have about 8 tanks and I am guessing thats right as the seller was a legit guy from what i gathered?
So i go outside and I start the engine. It always starts right up and the idle is perfect! BUT!!!! As soon as I give it gas it sputters or stalls, and I mean i am only giving it the LITTLEST of gas! I dont even use the radio as thats to much of a jolt to the throttle and it will stall? So i figured it might be cold so i let it idle for about 5 minutes. (THIS WHOLE TIME I WAS ADJUSTING THE NEEDLES TO GET IT TO RUN THE BEST IT COLD AND THEY WERE CLOSE TO FACTORY SETTINGS, ABOUT AN HOUR OR 2 OFF IF AT ALL)Now it spits alot of fuel also? More so then my MTX3 does? Anyway after a 5 minute idle I can get it to throttle up alittle but it is very tight feeling? It wants to stall? So after about 7 or 8 times of doing that I finally got it to run alittle?
Now I would hit the gas and it would throttle up sometimes without hesitation(by hesitation i mean it is like it is being choked?) and sometimes it did not? But I could not really get it to rev very high at all? So thats the first problem? I am guessing it might be because it is new or cold out?
So now I engage the forward and this is the 2nd prob? It seems as if the ntor or clutch is not engaging or something? Like the engine revs but the wheels have very little power getting to them? I dont know whats up but I would REALLY APPRECIATE the info or help with this! PLEASE EMAIL WITZH INFO or whatever? Or send your number or ask for mine and you can help me! I would GREATLY aprpreciate it!! THANKS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS

do you have any past nitro experience?

I think the engine is running rich but it is hard to tell by what you are describing. Try reving the engine with the igniter on the engine and see how it reacts. does the engine "sputter"? if so the engine is running rich. another thing to consider is that nitro engines do not like cold weather (below freezing).

Same thing happens with ignitor on the engine? I actually had it on there alot of the time as it was stalling so many times I was tired of taking it off and then putting it back on a second later? Especially in the cold like it wa today!
I am also worried about the truck not feeling like the power was getting to the wheels? I mean the engine was cetainly running enough at one point to wear it shouod have been moving you know! It also seemed to be running then cutting out? I dont know? I know there is a slipper on there? But is that diffrent then the clutch clutch that is attached to the motor? I am not familiar with trucks? A Centax i can adjust but I dont know how to adjust this one? I must say that the ONE BIGGEST dislike I have about the LST so far is the LACK of instructions and stuff that came with the truck?

The slipper is completely different than the clutch. Do you have a local hobby shop nearby? Thay may be able to pinpoin the prob. It sounds like there is more than 1 thing wrong here.
You should be able to get instructions for the truck off of team losis website.

I have the manual but it is not helping much? Right now I am guessing it is not broke in completley yet? I have heard that they may take more time to break in? I heard that frm the LHS. My main concern is the lCK OF POWER FROM THE ENGINE GETRING TO THE WHEELS? i ALSO DONT KNOW ABOUT THE CLUTCH? iS THERE A CLUTCH ON THE ENGINE AND THE 2 SPPEED? aND IS THE SLIPPER IN THE 2 SPEED OR THE ENGINE?

There oughta be a mechanical aptitude test as a prerequisite for owning a complicated finicky nitro truck IMHO.
It sounds like you're trying to get a cold slightly rich engine running too soon in cold weather.Once you get it started let it sit for a couple minutes and gently blip the throttle occasionally to keep it running. Then when you think it's warmed up a little slowly get on the gas..maybe even blipping it occasionally to keep it running ...maybe even give it a push to get it rolling so the clutch doesn't engage a totally still truck and see if that doesn't do it.The clutch will not engage until the engine reaches sufficient RPMs to do so and will not get power to the wheels until then
Any friends nearby with nitro experience are a definite plus as well.8 tanks is sufficient for break in .Good Luck

Hey thanks for your imput. I guess while you were replying to this I was outside trying out the truck! And your rihgt. Once I had it leaned out and the carb adjusted right, and the warmer weather it ran fine? The problem now is still the clutch? I mean I understand that it will not engage till it is high RPM's but even when it does engage it is weak? It barely goes over a little bump in the grass without some serious rpms? I gues it needs to be adjusted but i dont know how? I have a MTX3 and a centex. Thats simple to adjust? But this is NOTHING like a centex? I wish i could or I should just put that clutch on the LST? Think it eould work? Anyway if you know how to adjust let me know. There is NOTHING in the meanual about adjusting the clutch? Only the 2 speed? Also is it the clutch on the engines crank that would be adjusted or the slipper or whatever on the 2 speed? See I have never had 2 type of clutches before? I am almost positive that it is not the 2 speed? I just think the clutch is not grabbing hard enough at ALL! I mean it would not even spin out even alittle on dirt? Thats a problem? I have heard these things will pull wheelies?

I'd try adjusting the slipper first off.The manual gives instructions on how to do this. It's the locknut with a spring behind it on the face of the spur gears.Run it down until it's "snug" ,don't crank it down you'll break the little diff bearings and then turn it out 1/2 turn. That should be sufficient for general usage. If you want to wheelie constantly (hard on the drivetrain IMHO) tighten it down to about 3/8 of a turn out
Look at the instructions regarding the slipper clutch adjustment. If you are still having the same problems set the truck un something so the wheels are not on the ground. If the wheels are spinning at idle speed you probably have a broken clutch spring. Remove clutch bell and inspect springs and clutch.
Also check your CVD's and axle's to make sure they are working properly.
Hope this helps

How warm is your engine running after a few minutes? Reset the needles.
