The zenoah does not have a clutch

and the flex cable I have is 3/16 and 12" long... and it has a square end...

is this the right size?

For a Zenoah you should use a 1/4" flex shaft. You have the choice of using a square drive or a collet (sometimes referred to as a round collet or clamping collet). I would get the collet from Aeromarine and if you want to use a square cable end, get the square drive insert from Aeromarine to go in the collet. That way you can go back to the round collet drive if you want. It's also made better and it's easier to remove than some of the other square drive adapters on the market. My two cents.

I've got an Aeromarine round (or clamping) collet. I had to replace the insert ($4.95) but now it works great. For my nitro engines, I've got several round collets, or flex hexes as they call them, and they don't use any inserts. I actually like them better. Never had a problem with them.

Like Mike says though, I guess one could switch back and forth, with the correct inserts, between round and square end cable systems.

ok, im kinda confused about the whole 1/4 3/16 thing... if I get a 1/4 cable i will have to get a new drive too right?

also where do I measure to find out if it is 1/4 or 3/16 (at the end of the flex cable, or at the end of the prop shaft)?

The cable itself is 1/4" (the round part). If you have a strut which already has 3/16" bearings in it, you might be able to replace them with 1/4". In the 40/60/90 sized Octura struts, the hole is 11/32" and then there is a reducer bushing and a bearing pressed in, so with the right parts you can have 1/4" or 3/16" bearings. Or a trip to the local hobby shop might find a new strut for not much $ and the bearings to go in it. It's also possible to find the right parts to run a 1/4" cable with a 3/16" stub shaft at the lower end. Ot the local hardware store sells a 1/4" bronze bearing with a 3/8" outside diameter. (You'd have to drill the strut out some.) Lots of choices.

Back to your original question scorpien; that 3/16" cable is too small for a Zenoah engine. You're gonna have to go with 1/4". Most people with 11cc and up nitro engines recommend 1/4" cable as well.
