I got my hammer, but looked it over real good today, found a paint chip and a crack... I have a photo of the chip.. couldn't get the other to show up on the camera.. it's a cheap camera... Basically the other crack i could put my fingernail under it and break it off about a 1/4 square inch... I can send it back to tower and they said they would replace it.. but i'm not sure if I want to depending upon wether or not it's a big deal.. If i just put some zap a gap on it would i be fine?

in this pic you can look at the corner and see where there is no more paint...

If it didn't got through its fine. I droped mine and it did the same thing. I decided to paint the boat so I filled it with bondo. I wouldn't really worry about it as long as its not in a place that will affect performance.

Whether or not it will affect performance if you were sent a damaged or defective product you should ALWAYS return it. The manufacturer has no real incentive to fix their problems if everyone keeps the bad products. It's worth your time to make sure that you actually get the product that you paid for. If you contact the manufacturer directly and express your concerns in MANY cases you can get some $ back for your troubles or free product (ie props). If they truly want your business they will work to keep you as a customer. I can say for certain that if it were me, I would insist that they do something extra for me or else I would send it back for a full refund.

If you bought a car, but it came with deep scratches and chips in the paint would you do nothing, or would you DEMAND that the manufacturer (or dealer at least) fix the problem to YOUR satisfaction?

Look at the skeg on my yellow hammer. It came with the chip off where the tube exits. Not had any problems so far.

Hockeekidd98,

I can't really tell by the pic what you have.(poor pic) But I would have to agree with Bufferoo, send it back! You should expect to get a new product in perfect condition.

As for cracks in the hull, if its on surface running area you would make matters worse by using the boat without fixing it first. Water would force its way in the crack and make it worse, Plus you would most likely start getting water inside the hull from it. Just about anything can be fixed but your boat is new, wait till you hit something first before you begin fixing hull damage. :D
