Has anyone tried using the Hacker ESC? I know it is smaller that the previous controller, but what else if different.

Have they actually been released yet? There is no info on the web that I've seen at all.

I saw the specs in Aircraft world and I think they are selling it as well.

There is a new one, but it's only for up to 8 cells. MrConstructor has said it's a very good controller.

It's been available in Europe for months now, but HackerUSA still doesn't have them.

The 12 cell version is still in the works... I wonder if they will just give up on it. It's been over a year now.

If anyone gets it - I want to hear what it is like.

well i just won that auction so i will bw able to add my coments of it hopefuly on monday.
Im hoping for a big improvement over the master car sport old model that i have running my c40 8s.

I do like the look of the aluminium machined case looks quite smart and probably good for cooling.

Has anyone compared this controller with the schulze U-Force?

The only information I've heard/read was that Hacker had decided to add a 4Khz drive frequency option. A lower drive frequency will help the ESC stay cooler but will have the opposite effect on the motor(generally speaking) and it will sacrifice some efficiency.
Based on past Hacker (Jeti) ESC performance I'd doubt it will match the U-Force, but we won't really know until they are compared head to head.

I purchased one of these controllers back in september from aircraft world.
Right now it's on loan to a buddy in his t/c.
Running on 6 cells and a hacker c40 6s, i didn't like the low throttle response compared to my fut-12.97 on the same setup.

Also, it had an unusual glitch that i still have'nt figured out. Whenever you held it at partial throttle, it would stay at that speed no matter how far you pulled the trigger. To release it from this state, you would have to push the trigger forward towards brake, then pull the throttle again to accelerate. This did'nt occur all the time and could have been a problem with my receiver or radio settings.

Overall it's a good esc. No heat issues, good brakes, decent runtime. Coupled with the c40 6s in my X-ray it was very fast on 6 cells.

ive never had any glitching issues with my master car sport it is most likely a radio interferance issue.

Actually, I think it does have BEC but I'm not positive. Someone here will know for sure though.

if it had BEC wouldnt it have 2 connectors; 1 for batt connector for receiver, as well as 1 for one of the channels? this has 1 connector for receiver and 1 switch.

If it has BEC, it will get the power form the main battery wires. It doesn't need any additional connectors. If it has a switch, then it should have BEC. If there's no BEC, then what's the switch for?

Exactly. The switch should be for the BEC. Hopefully it will work better than the previous version's BEC...

The previous two posts didn't spell this out, but in case you are wondering still, once you hook up the main battery pack to the speed control, the bec inside "backfeeds" 6v power to the receiver through the controllers receiver lead to power it up. Does that make sense?

glassdoctor

Yes, that's right.

To be even more clear, my Hacker Sport Opto (no bec) has only motor and battery main power leads, and one lead for the receiver. No switches. I did put a switch on my rx pack so it's easy to turn on/off.

As for the BEC:
all new Car escīs do have the BEC only the new 12 cell might be having a selectable BEC (final datas arenīt out yet) the now used BEC is WAY better than anything before in those Hacker escīs, overall avery good esc !!
(and small too, but best in cars will be the quadratic sheme as the esc will be a lot easier to be mounted in the car than shrink wrapped ones !!
(that little extra weight is OK as it is mostly used for cooling !!

@ chilledoutuk:

watch your PM, iīve send you the Copy that was given to me for testing the Proto, so itīs a bit harsh but youīll find it pretty easy when testing alittle around !!

well i only just got round to installing the esc but i neverless charged up a pack to test the controller and set it up.

acording to the seller he had it running a c50 which shouldl need the same settings as my c40 so i left the settings as they were and sure enough the controller worked fine with the c40.
I couldnt resist putting the car on the floor and seeing how much torque it pulled to my amazment my axis 2 was doing 4 wheel wheelspins with takeoff tyres. Now there shinny as hell and very sticky cant wait till tomorow to take it out side and see hwo it gos.

From what i can tell so far the torque generated is more like that of the novak system i picked up a while ago.
Considering that the old master supersport i used to use with my c40 8s didnt have much starting torque at all the improvement is amazing.

|I havent had any glitching problems so far and thats with an old am radio which was handly but ill report more tommorow after a proper session.
