I have a t3 and I cant fill the shocks withoit getting air in them, or too much oil. I do it like the manual says but I can hear it coming out of the oil when it gets to the top. So that means theres not enough oil right. I add more but I wont be able to push the shaft all the way up or it has too much rebound. I also tryed filling the shock full without the piston compresed, and filling the cap but its always too much oil. oh yeah every time i bleed the shocks so no air bubbles are in it. please help!!!!

Ok this is what you do. Fill the shock up so its almost full (about half a cm from the top lip). Then push the shock piston up (but not above the oil). Next, turn it then bring it back down, keep doing that till there are no bubbles, you might have to let it settle alittle to get rid of the little bubbles. Then push the piston up alittle so its not resting at the very bottom and fill up the shock piston so the oil goes all the way up to the top but bends in ward not up then screw teh shock cam on fast =).Then you should feel some push back fromt he piston about half way.(if you don't have a shock bladder fill teh shock up so the oil curves out of the shock body)

http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I found a neat little trick: take an empty, clean shock, ready to fill. Push the piston UP, tilt the shock body slightly and slowly pour shock oil onto the piston....slowly...so that the oil dribbles over the piston & runs down the shock tube into the shock body, it runs into the very bottom of the shock res. and fills up pushing the air out as it gets full. Get it about full and turn the piston so there is a hole at the top-most side, so that as you pull the shaft (& piston) down into the oil, the hole can vent any air, trapped under the piston. Do all this slowly. Looking down into the resevoir, continue pulling the piston all the way down till it hits. You should be able to see any air bubbles, come from under the piston. If there are alot, pour it out & start over again. If there are just a few, tap the side of the shock, lightly so that they come to the top. Like a Doctor does a syringe...Move the piston up & down making sure it doesn't come out of the oil...before you put the top on the shock, fill it about 2/3rds up with oil, then quickly flip it over screwing it on.

If you can collapse the shock & it comes all the way or more than 1/2 the way back out, its good to go.

ughhh my original post didnt work, well here goes. Heres what I do to my Associated shocks (most shocks assemble like this):

1. Clean them, and take them apart.

2. Drain them of all the oil by turning it upside down and pumping the shock back and forth till mostly drained. Then I rince them out in water thouroughly. Take a hair dryer to them till dry, and let them cool.

3. Add new shock oil all the way up to the top and pump the shock up and down till the plastic inner circle thing comes to the top. You will see air bubles, keep doing this until mostly no bubbles. (SLOWLY)

4. Push the shaft up half way slowly. Then fill the cap of the shock up with oil to the brim and even over. Very quickly screw the shock cap on. Oil should come out wich is normal, so I wipe it with a paper towel.

5. After clean, make sure all the plastic and all is totally clean. Apply a thin strip of shock oil the the shaft and puch the shock shaft in all the way. It should come back out about 1/4" or so. Make sure all shocks are even (front shocks both come out to same point and same for the rear). Then reassemble the shock. Repeat for the others.
