Hello Everyone,
As Christmas approaches, I think of that Christmas almost eight years ago that I got my first RC car. It’s funny to think I was eight at the time and now I’m sixteen, I’ve been building and driving RC cars for half of my life. That Christmas I remember begging my parents for a RC car. I wanted a Kyosho Outrage more than anything that Christmas. I wanted to be like my brother Rich (RichieRich). I remember opening that Outrage that morning and being so happy. Along with the Outrage came the Futaba 2PB radio in the ugly green/white box, the Hobbico 900 charger, then lastly the bearings. It took me a week to build that car. I built the shocks wrong by holding the shaft with pliers then twisting the eyelet onto the shaft, scratching the shafts. When my brother came home, he took a pair of Gold Shocks and transplanted them onto my Outrage. That car was a blast to drive. I remember I had a mechanical speed control and when the batteries got low it would lock itself in one speed. About two weeks after I got the Outrage I let my friend drive it and when it’s batteries got low he drove it straight into a drain. I was heartbroken and I called my brother crying. “Byron drove my car into the drain and some how it drove itself into the middle of the street!” I told him. My brother drove to where I was at and he crawled into the middle of the street to get it for me. That along with, my brother and I jumping our cars off the driveway, me melting rubber ducky with the soldering iron, breaking in my brothers RS4, and me hitting the Oak tree with my B3 make up the memories that I have acquired with RC cars. I hope that all of you have made great memories with RC cars. It’s a great hobby to have. Share your memories.

Hey David, that was pretty funny when Byron drove your Outrage into a storm drain. It didn't smell that good down in there. Anyways, I don't think I ever got an r/c car for Christmas.

Well, my favorite memory was when I got my Tamiya Frog. It took me forever to build. I had it all set up with the little black balloons over the speed control and receiver pack. So, I took it into the backyard, plugged everything in, and moved the throttle stick only to have a huge cloud of smoke rise from the "powerful" Mabuchi RS540S motor. For some reason the endbell melted. Oops. The next weekend, I bought an Associated stock motor and everything went well after that.

Around the same time my cousin got a Tamiya Subaru Brat. We were so excited we made little jumps in that backyard to drive over. We started way back, hammered the throttle and went straight for the jump. My Frog took the jump pretty well, but the Brat couldn't even make it up the ramp. The Brat came with an RS380 motor which had NO power but lasted about 30 minutes on one charge. It was funny, er...well, you had to be there. -RR

My first car was a traxxas bandit. It was only a year and a ½ ago.

I remember when I first got it I didn't know how to install the battery!!! My dad helped me.

About a month later I was driving my car around a storage place and the owner came out with his golf cart and was driving back and forth. I thought mabey I could race him. My car was still all stock. With a mecanical speed control that would stick into a sertian speed when the battery got low. (like yours TUCRACEMAN) and a stock 20 turn motor I thought I had the fastest car in the world. (only cause it cost $200)So the next time the owner came by I said "Hey want to race?" he said "ok". By now you probly now what happend. I was way a head of him when I decited to turn around. Well back then I didn't know left from right!!! So...........When I was turning a round I turn the wrong way!! And then CRASH!!! I steered the wrong way and he ran straight into me!!!! And supriseing enough nothing broke!!!! The bottom of my chassis is all scratched up.

Now when I think of that I just laugh. I've came such a long way since then. After my traxxas I bought a OLD XX-T. The onto what I have now a XXX-T.

Memories ? Don't even get me started. I've only been in RC about 4 years, but I made all the newbie mistakes, and learned most things the hard way. Good thing I've got a good paying job. But it's all been a blast, even the mistakes.
