Are they serious about a 3-4month wait for delivery of their Sav kit?
I see a lot of advantage to running BL conversion, I'm working on 3 right now (G2R, Emaxx and a UE Lightning), but be advised there is a little more to it than they make it seem. Do yourself a favor and spend some time over on the forums at RC Monster - there is even a Sav BL conversion thread.
Feigaos have a rep for running hot and needing lots of amps which requires a higher end esc like a Quark 125b or one of the MGMs controllers. They can get hot enough to demag!
Few places I run are getting prissy about noise and I'm getting tired of someone calling the cops on me. When I've got one of my BLs up and running I hope to finally just be left alone to have some fun.

why would you want to sacrafice nitro power for electricity even if its a kit
Found this list on the Tekno RC site....
Benefits - faster acceleration, higher top speed, predictable performance from pack to pack - no matter what the weather is, no engine tuning, no break-in, no air filter cleaning, no after-run maintenance, no oily mess, less pit gear required, fewer batteries to charge (no starter box battery, no RX battery, no glow igniter battery), no engine rebuilding or new pistons and sleeves, happier neighbors, far less upkeep and operating expenses after initial investment.

There is a breakin of sorts - after you've popped for some expensive lipos, they need a little special care the first 20 cycles. If you don't, you'll shorten the life of those expensive batteries! They need to be kept to under 100F even if it requires re-gearing.
Can't take the weather comment literally either - I know they were referring to temp and humidity and its effect on nitro tuning, but elec and rain don't mix without very special precautions!! I know I would never run any of mine in the wet, too easy to fry everything! Expensive mistake!

I find it amusing that this once dead thread on a 'Nitro Star K4.6' has been brought back to life by discussing electric vehicles.
I have to say that I love the sound and smell of my nitro savage even if my neighbors don't.

I find it amusing that my once ignored k4.6 savage might be brought to life by an electric motor ;-) My only concern is what a load that truck is...it will take one big brushless to move it.

Sorry. Off-topic question. Can someone please tell me the advantage or disadvantage to using this--- http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMDA8&P=FR ---it's the aluminum inner cone for the Savage X tuned pipe. It came with a complete Savage X stock pipe setup that I bought on eBay to hopefully quiet down the screaming OS .30VG/HPI aluminum pipe setup that I'm running on my 1/7 scale HB Lightning Street (very loud). But, of course I still want maximum performance. What is the purpose of the (divergent?) cone...high speed or low speed enhancement?

I just got a Savage X SS the other day and I am loving it. There is a little problem that I have been having though... The hinge pin guards keep twisting out of the way and the top arms keep popping out because the pin comes loose. Does anyone know anything that would help prevent this?

put a zip tie around the inside of the guards to hold them together. that'll remedy your problem. enjoy :)

Thank you so much, I didn't even think of that and it would work perfectly. Awesome suggestion.

Had a few screws vibrate loose from the engine mount and stripped my CB. Who makes some strong clutch bells?
Who else likes their OS 30?

Stock savage XL with a few upgrades.... budget truck I guess
Futaba 3pm MX
HPI Big Bore shocks
O.S. 30 with an old RB 2020 pipe I had layin around from one of my old buggies
I still have some trimming work left to do on the body... I left my dremel at home, lol.
This is a Proline body meant for the Revo or Maxx 3.3 I believe but, this was the biggest one that my LHS had in stock at the time. I am pretty sure that Prolines bodies for the LSTs is a little bit longer and a better fit.

I'm a newb and made a mistake with my new Savage X 4.6 RTR. I went through 5 tanks this afternoon for the break-in and started getting the feel of the new truck. It was running great, so I figured I could jump it off the little launch ramp. Well when I did the truck quickly reminded me that I should have checked the spur gear mesh. Stripped it, nice and quick!
Now, my question... How many teeth are on the stock spur gear? I'm seeing 47 and 49 tooth versions from HPI. I also see some aftermarket gears from Integy and a few others - any brands to look for or avoid?
Thanks in advance!
-Will learn from my mistakes with new parts :)

Stay away from the steel spurs because they'll eat up your pinions. Your spur depends on your pinion. I dont have the 4.6 so I cannot tell you what spur you need. The larger the spur the cooler the motor will run.

I found the correct assembly manual for it and it takes a 47T spur. Thanks for the tip on the metal gears.

I don't have any problem with metal gears, both my Savage 25 and Savage X are metal both spur and pinnion. The X is running a .32 Axial lots of power. You get the mesh correct and you won't have any problem there. How ever I have lost a few pinnion gears in the front diff. I race my X. We ran 3- 8 week long events this year and never had a problem. Just put a Losi eight2 together and put metal gears in it. Plastic only lasts a few good hard races and strips under hard landings while braking. Just follow HPI instructions for gear mesh and should be good to go.
