So done anything to your N. Hammers lately? Got any new pics of them? Modded them anymore? Thrown them on the backburner for other projects?

Doc, CF, EJP, .............

Talk about Hammers has quietened down the past couple of months.

mine is temporarily in storage. i've got some plans for it and i just need to get the parts together to finish the surface drive. however...it's on the back burner no matter what because of the Atlas project and my Evader buggy.

Well , mine is up & running! :D

I just ran it this past Sunday. Performed flawlessly...........

I really have no plans to do anthing to it since its pretty modded & runs very well. The only thing is trying to find a prop that may give better performance. The engine is not stock, but I still run with the stock prop. Easy & cheap but I may be able to squeeze better.

I currently have some other projects that have priority. (painting a hull, finishing a scratch hull & putting a few more planes in the air)

Have it all ready to go. just have to wait for spring even though its 54 deg out today well thats michigan. The new motor is in, header is matched, vent slots in hatch. Now working on a new deep vee boat. This hobby is addicting

Looks good there!!!!

Iv'e seen slots like that In a magazine once I think. Word of advice to you though. If you really like those decals to stay on. I would advise to spray a coat of "nitro proof" clear over them/the hull.

I finally added the scoop.

It almost looks like a skull with the black scoop. Hmmm what could I do..... ;)

I've:
added the scoop above the carb
changed fuel tanks
added an additional coil around the pipe to cool it a little
moved the rudder up about 1/4" to 1/3"
cut and sharpened the turn fins
added a Mac's pipe

I haven't gotten to run it with the scoop or the raised rudder yet.

His isn't finished yet. EPJ has one with a surface drive and several other mods

BoatDoc

right you are HJ...mine is not a surface drive yet. i've cut the skeg off and started the work, but i just haven't gotten around to finishing it yet. once the surface drive is finished, i think the only stock part of the boat left will be the hull itself! i want to get back to working on it...but all my hobby money is reserved for other projects right now, like my park flyer (yup, started flying again), my Evader buggy (it's going to be a rocket) and of course my other boats. at this point i've got a prather tunnel, a prather deep vee, FF .12, Blizzard FE 'rigger, and the Atlas project. those are all higher on my "priority" list than the hammer. oh yeah...there's the Hawk 3.5 in the mix somewhere too :D did i ever mention how much i love this hobby!

Mine is sitting on my shelf, Where did you get that air scoop?? I WANT ONE..:)...

Any way mine is stock except for a fuel filter, failsafe, and a gasoline check valve. I planon adding a macs pipe soon..Here are some pics. And if i find out were to get the hood scoop, i will add that too.

I cut off part of a jet conopy. Do a search on hammer scoops and you'll see what CF's, EJP, and a few others look like.

I used a little 2oz Dubro tank. I didn't save much on weight because of the nice big fuel clunk. It will definitely seal better though.

Ejp,
Thats looks to be just some copper tubing bent around the pipe.

Hockeekidd98,
If you don't want to attempt to make your own scoop, here's one that I found the other day. Should be just fine!

I bought brass and copper tubing from the hobby shop. I can't remember which worked better. I anealed it first. Boy it's very easy to collapse. It was either one or two sizes bigger than the 1/8". I'm thinking one size bigger. You can slide the 1/8 inside of it and it just fit. I haven't gotten to run with this one yet. I did have a coil made from 1/8" copper and it didn't flow good. Hopefully this one does.

Nice looking scoops. It was trial and error on the ones I bought. One of them was way too big after it got here. The other would have worked though.

Zap should work fine. Once in place use some epoxy. If you want to finish off nice & clean use either Bondo or Green model putty & sand. Then repaint & you will have a set up that looks factory. :D

Scoop came today. My dilemma is I don't want to repaint, but to get this to fit I’m going to have to modify the scoop to accommodate the curves in the deck.. It's not going to be easy... any way, these are the two positions I’m thinking about putting it. I know the 1st one will be better for the carb, but the second position will require allot less modification. Plus I think it looks better there.

this picture isweirdto lazy to take another... lol there is a perfect curve the flash just confused the camera I guess. As you can see I only need to modify the sides.

3rd option... i like this one the second best. I don't know if it will even benfit me thought it may just go out the holes in the back.

Get 2 and put them in the first best place. That will be sure to help.:D And it would match better.

don't want 2 :). I like the look of only one scoop on the side.
I think i'm gonna put it in the second place, or i may pick up a new hatch for 4 bucks and paint the whole thing.... still thinking.

The scoop improves the supply of combustion air, or is it for cooling?

I went ahead and installed the "blower", topped with a bell-mouth scoop, from a Muscle Machines die cast car. It cost $10. and I gave the car to the neighbor kid. The blower probably would look a little strange to a purist :D :D

Actually both!!! The cooler fresher air allows you to lean a little more than before. Also it creates a airflow through the engine compartment & out the back for a cooler running setup.

The only downside is you won't know when you have an exhaust leak as easily. (split coupler, leaky fuel tank seal, loose header bolts, blown gasket, etc..)

For the coupler & header leaks you will see freshly burn fuel after a run. To help with that, one-replace the crappy pipe/header coupler with better. (will last almost forever & not leak) 2- The stock header gasket is crap as well, does not last very long(maybe 5 tanks worth) replace with a new(HPI) & put some 2.5mm hex nuts on the back end of the header with a dab of lock tight. Will not rattle loose & will come off when you need it to.
