Well, Steve suggested we start another thread as the other one was WAY to long. It was started on August 2002! over 6000 posts and 100,000 veiws. Let's hope this one will last as long!!

Jimmy, if we take the T-bird or the Olds, your good to go if you want. Steve can also drive, as well as I can too, for short periods anyhow,,,

Hope to see you all out there in a few days. I got something for you Mini-T and 18T guys. It came out before these did and it is 1/18th scale. All I gotta do is figure out how to make it turn,,,,,

Hey Ron, I called, but the phone kept ringing. See'n what you were up to. Anyways.. maybe we'll talk more about the Snowbirds this Saturday.

I guess I'll catch everyone this Satuday. I have to work Sunday though. Oh well.. at least I'll get some more testing done.

Looked like we had flurries? today. But nothing special. Someone said they got snow up in Raleigh? I dunno. Suppose to get warmer anyways by the weekend. If you want to call 50's warmer hehe.

Hey Glenn, I passed the word on the Winter Bash on some other forums. Let me know when you have more info and I can pass it on. So far we just have a date and that's about it. Anyways, catch you tomorrow at the shop.. I hope.. hehe..

Is there any chance that the track will be open on Friday night the 28th? I will be running at the WOOD on the 29th.

Jimmy- I talked to Paul today and he should have a car at the beginning of next week and wants to come up to the wood for birds practice with the new car. Have to check with his schedule, but more than likely he would ride up Friday as well.

JimmyMac
01-19-2005, 06:48 PM
Hmmmm, I'll have to talk Glenn into this tomorrow..... Having Paul at the track would be awesome! Glenn did mention something like that. So we'll see... I'm game for Friday Night Practice again after work on the 28th.. I need all the testing I can get.

Anyways, I take it that you aren't goin to MD then? I know I'm not gonna make it there as well. That would throw off my testing I think....

If he comes, I will. He may not have wrote down too many things being he isn't keeping the car for future races.

Jimmy- correct, no Maryland. I'm about flat broke for the next couple weeks. Offroad race and the birds have drained me for now.

I just got the March 2005 issue of rc car action magazine in the mail, and it has two pro setups for the TC4. One of them is Bary Baker's indoor set-up, and the other escapes me at the moment.

Take care and good racing. :)

Sorry, Glenn... I was gonna stop by but I had an upset stomach towards the end of the work day... hehe... I'm just glad I made it home in time!!

Anyways, I ran into another snag with the 3.5.... I'm missing a c/e clip for the rear input shaft. I think I took it out and it might have been mixed up with the TC4 when I had it. So if anyone at the track has one... That's the only thing left to complete the kit. Diff is built... CVD's lubed up. New arms in the rear... Just needs that one C'clip. I'll bring it by the track in the morning. Not unless if you have any laying around Glenn....

Here is a pic of what I'm talking about......

Oh yeah... no Snow here... but I heard about Raleigh... Kids stuck at school over night.. haha.. must of sucked. I wonder if they had to do homework... haha...

Well hope everyone is safe.... Catch yall Saturday...

IT SUCKED!!!!! 3 1/2 hrs to drive 40 normal minutes. it took 2 hrs to go 6 miles we stopped for pizza and got back in line only 4-5 cars back from where we got out yeah CiCi's does one hell of a pitstop for pizza when theres a "BLIZZARD" with a total accumulation of 1" of snow. Hell I might just put them on the side of my racecar from now on as a sponsor!

now back to the news

I am pissed I cannot go to Maryland either just too much "STUFF" coming up in Dec and Jan for me sorry John,Mark,Kevin maybe next time.

Well I passed out last night at 8:30pm and everyone comes out to talk! I guess I was just sick last night. But the nice long sleep was good for me. :)

Laurie, I'll be at the track early tomorrow for some testing. Looking forward to seeing the 415MS in action. I'll bring the 3.5 and hopefully we can finish it up at the track. Just needed that C clip. Oh and Laurie... did you still want that Honda body? They have them in stock now. Steve was actually holding my preorder on the Honda body til the Stratus 3.0 came in. But I can go ahead and order the Honda if I wanted. Or you can order it if you wanted. Up to you. I've had one for over a month now waiting for the Snowbirds. :D But I preorder another for you and I so I could test one out.

I guess I'll catch everyone tomorrow. Team-mate Chris J... you gonna be there punk?! You better win this time! Anyhow, weather looks to be wet tomorrow. But it won't get below freezing. Thats a good thing...

God, this is a riot!! The weather idiots almost always get it wrong on the day of, and here it is the day before and people are already wondering whats gonna happen. There isn't anything anyone can do to stop bad weather from happening, so just deal with it. If it starts to go bad, then worry about it. I know some have to drive far, but if it got that bad, Goldsboro has a lot of places to stay. I like the alnight test and tune session myself!!

Actually, you know what'll happen,, if you stay home, it'll be clear out. If you go, it'll get bad out. Like Anthony said, weater is imaterial when there's racing to be done!!:)

Ron, I know your from Connecticutt, but take a chill pill. The guy was just wondering about the weather. NC does not have the salt and heavy equipment support for occational bad weather. If it snowed here every week then we would have the support just like most northern states. We will race tomorrow if the good Lords willing and the creek don't rise. see ya'll.

Don't mind Ron... he's just showing his age.. :p And it's not like anyone wants to spend $40 on a room when they can just stay home. And what's this with Ron worrying about the weather up in Cary? If it's clear he'll go racing there Sunday? Huh?? Why not just go and get a room if you have to Ron?? haha.. Just picking on ya lunk....

Reggie, I don't think I can afford to order that many bodies. Or order too much at that. My budget is somewhat limited this month due to the Snowbirds. So I'd have to have cash in hand on that one if I was to order this month. Any other month would be fine. Just not this month. 4 new batteries, 4 full sets of tires, a practice motor, and several bodies takes it toll on ya.. ;) But if you bring money tomorrow.. I can order them Sunday night. 2 bodies=$48!!! Add $2 for shipping and call it $50. Add $7 for the Yokomo Wings that everyone uses in Japan. They don't use the Honda wings that come with the car. Actually all the drivers there use the Yokomo Wing III on every car regardless. Just something to consider. So that would make 2 bodies actually cost $64 if you were to do it right. Yeah I know it's alot of money for just a body... but hey.. it's a hobby right?! :D

Anyways... still looking forward to tomorrow... time to go eat dinner now... L8Rz

Enjoyed racing again today, even though I had to wrestle with radio problems the first two heats. Imagine that, having to go back to my old Futaba Magnum AM radio to make the glitches go away. Hope some new crystals will fix the problem with my JR FM radio.

And I just gotta say thanks again Jairo. The set up you gave me last year gave me a car I can drive. It's fun knowing I can be competitive when I show up. :D

Thanks Glenn, for your help. And I really like what you did with the carpet track this time around. :)

Glenn- I have a question for you. I know sometimes there are some people with a key that will open early. Is there a chance that next Saturday (29th) a few racers could stay for a bit after the racing is over to get a couple extra packs of practice for testing (say 1 hr after racing is over)? No hobby shop or anything necessary. I know a few of us going to the birds would like all the opportunity possible for track time to get things tested and sorted out. If all but one door was locked up when you wanted to leave, someone could lock that last door on the way out. Figured it was just thought, will be there to race next weekend.

Brandon Melton

JimmyMac
01-23-2005, 12:43 AM
Brandon, and anyone else interested, Glenn will be opening up the track Friday for practice. But no lap times (to my knowledge). Track will be open from 6pm to 9pm. We talked about this at Logans Steak House after todays racing. And he said I could annouce this.

I had fun today. But didn't have a good day racing. I guess I had one of "those" days. The new setup didn't work out. So for next week... I'm goin back to last weeks setup. I broke 1 aluminum turnbuckle. Bent another. Broke off one aluminum ball stud. Broke a spindle. And broke a caster block. I believe Laurie broke 2 aluminum turnbuckles on his 415MS. So I lent him to steel ones. Hopefully he'll have the Ti ones for us to use next weekend. :)

Anyways, Steve's TC4 was hooked up pretty good. And consistant too. Anthony finally figured out his problem and his car hooked up as well. Rodney got hooked up too. I think he had a good qualifying run. Oh and Rodney... it wasn't your fault my car broke in the main. I reviewed the tape and it was all my fault. I grazed off one of the highspeed turns just before the switchbacks before the straightaway. So my car wouldn't turn and that's when we might have touched for a second.

Good to see you back at the track Jairo and Dee. Jairo... SNOWBIRDS!!! SNOWBIRDS!!!!!! DO IT!!!! If you do decide to go... give me a call.

Laurie, your 415MS looked pretty good in stock class! Justin's car was pretty good. Chris J.... I dunno... you had a fast car... but.... hehe... Ron... maybe you will listen next time. Does your car use Deans plugs? I want you to use my batteries next weekend. I'll be using my new batteries to break them in for the Snowbirds. Anyways, you looked good out there Ron! Thanks to Rodney!!

Glenn, good run in Spec! Not only did you survive the first lap.... you won the race! Good job!

Hi Mark! Stop hitting the flappers!! hehe... Brian... looking good! Looks like you have an issue with the front end and body... and loosing body posts.. hehe...

Well let me head out.... gotta work in the morning. Plus gotta see what else may be broken on the 415....

JimmyMac
01-23-2005, 03:00 AM
Laurie, I ordered 2 XRay 6cell battery strap sets. So if you want one let me know. I'll have it at the track on Friday. I also ordered the body too. So we'll work out the deal on the Ti turnbuckles if you get those in.

Tarheel
01-23-2005, 06:41 AM
Brandon, As Jimmy mentioned earlier, the track will be open friday night 6-9 pm for practice. Thats the best i can do. Saturday is a long day for me and i'm usually to tired to stay. Laurie is the only other man with a key and he is racing saturday. I don't think he wants to stay after racing. Maybe friday night will give you enough time. I hope so.
Well i want to say, saturday night was a great night for racing. I finally got around the first turn and not only completed the first lap but won the darn thing after two weeks of problems. Laurie has my car dialed and i'll probably have to do the upkeep on it from now on. Thanks for the help Laurie. Dee, glad we got your problem solved. You will get faster with time and you had a good run. Glad you had a good time. Tom, you were on my heels and have a good car. Won't be long and you'll be tougher than you are now. Ron, what a surprize from the wiz kid. Ron finished third in stock thanks to Rodneys batts and motor tuning. I do have to give you one thing Ron, you drove a good race and can drive when you want to. Justin comes in late, runs one qualifier and comes in second in the main. That kid can drive and will be tougher down the road as he learnes how to drive in a crowed. Congrads to all the winners , Laurie took a tough stock race. Steve B took 19 turn and John N. took 1/12 stock. Would be neat to see more 1/12 scales on the track. Could you imagine 10 of those in the main. Man what a show! Anyway, had fun. I will post the results when finished here on, www.glennshobbycorner.com

RodneyRacer

Tarheel and Ron

How much time are you running in between heats and the mains.

The reason I ask is this some of us do more than change batteries and motors for instance here is what I like to do before a qualifier.

change batteries
blow the dust off the car
make a small chassis change no matter how good the car works
sometimes set the car up on the setup station especially if I made a chassis change that will affect the cars setup
set the car on the tweak station
check ride height
sauce the tires

all this and if you do not start charging a pack right when you come off the track it will not be charged when your qualifier comes around

this leaves no time to do anything else at all such as
rebuild a motor
make a major chassis change to try something
repair broken parts and reset your chassis
sometimes no time to run a different body cause ya have to change your body mounts

RodneyRacer
01-23-2005, 08:26 PM
and most important of all

HELP SOMEBODY ELSE!!!!
like the new guy or somebody haveing trouble with their chassis setup
build a motor for somebody (like I did Rons) yeah I had time that time because I made time for him and just swapped batteries in my car because I finally stopped traction rolling.

a couple of weeks ago I helped a new guy out and completely rest his chassis for him just like Laurie does for Glenn but I did it at the track I set droop put the car on the setup station ride height tweak found some camber links that were inconsistant from side to side and a few more things. This person was very frustrated and was ready to walk so I said let me see the car and I set it up at the expense of one of my qualifiers.

I guess what I am saying is can we find a way to have the same amount of time between heats no matter how many heats we have. if we had 10-15 more minutes between rounds yesterday would have been great to help out some people and get our stuff around too. In other words if you have 2 more heats next week the time from my heat to my next heat will be the same no matter if we have 2 more or 2 less heats. Does this make sense???

First people complain they are taking too long... now people are complaining not enough time... Damned if you do... damned if you don't.. haha.. :p

30 minutes between rounds is enough time. All my batteries were charged and ready for every round yesterday. Motor rebuild... optional...

Rodney, we have to consider the people from out of town also. They are always pushing me to hurry up because they have a long drive home. I'm not talking about Anthony, he does'nt push me to hurry. But some people do push to hurry so they can get home at a decent hour. I know i can't please everyone so we have to reach a happy medium. I may loose drivers do to to much time or to little time. So we do the best we can. Thanks for the input and i will keep these in mind when running the track. Good luck to the people going to Maryland. Don't worry about the size of the lanes, you will do fine. Most of you guys going are good drivers and can drive anywhere. Like they say, SIZE DOES'NT MATTER. lol.

No pushing from me!! Heck I wanted to stay all night Sat. LOL

I know I had the same prob. as Rodney. I had a few packs that were started as soon as I came off from my heat race. Two of them peaked as my other heat was already being called to the line and my main pack I cut it off short of peaking.

It takes my GP3300 2500-2600 secs. at 6amps to charge that is almost 45 mins.

Before the main we were given 15mins. The announcement was made at 6pm that the first main was to start at 6:15, I looked at my watch and knew I didn't have time to cut a motor, true my tires and set-up the car ......So I handed my motor to Rodney and just rotated tires!!! LOL

i had asked glenn if he could speed it up. when i asked that he told he couldnt because people needed more time to charge and work on their cars. that was the last time i have asked him speed it up. i do not come up their enough for him to justify speeding it up. it is my decision to race there. i plan my day accordingly for this now. i will just get there at a latter time. yes it does take me 3 hours to drive up to race. is it worth it yes.

We start round one at 3pm. Round two is usually one hour later at 4pm. That leaves 50 minutes between each heat in your class with extra time between round 3 and the mains. If there are no objections from out of towners at the track we can allow a little more time. I hate to loose drivers if we take to long. I have heard comments like " I come to The WOOD because you run a good show and keep things moving." "You don't take all day to run a race." Like i said before, it's important to keep things moving so out of town people get home at a decent hour. I have seen out of towners leave early before the mains because they had to get home for some reason or other. We want to keep the driver attendance up so I will do whatever is required to keep it that way. As i said before, we know we can't please everyone, but we do consider all angles of the situation if possible. Thanks for everyone input.

Nice Job LeadFoot!

Hank, I'll have to go check it out.

George, I have some good news and some bad. Good news... the shock caps came in today. The Bad.... they only sent me 3 pairs... If I would have known that I would have placed another order with another place last night.... Oh well. You'll have to wait another week for the last pair. But I'll bring what I have this Friday and Saturday to the track.

Okay, one last deal about the time. Let them setup a time at the track when the next round is up using the clock hanging on the wall by the bleachers (that's the master clock). And if you need more. Go up to them and ask for it (don't yell it out and think they will hear you). Then they will annouce a new start time if it is reasonable. Main key is consistancy with enough time to charge up a pack. Simple as that. :) :p

Got my Snowbirds confirmation today! No Radio impound. Can't wait to go! Jairo? You goin or what dude!!

Hmmm, Ok, set up the computer, register all the drivers, fix the glitches, post heats, charge a battery, sauce a tire, make a setup change?, work on the motor?, climb up and down that ladder, eat somthing, maybe this time I can get into the bathroom, get a drink, add someone who came in late, fix a wrong tranponder number, get my tools back from Justin, help Glenn with his batteries/car, ooopps transmitter batteries are dying, go call races, print it all out, post results, all starts over again,,,Is this called multi-tasking?? And you all say you got no time? try adding all that to working on your car. Yes, this is my choice, I like doing this stuff. I'm also pretty good at it. Yes, I wouldn't mind a little more time, but I know the dilema that Glenn is in, I've been here a LONG time. Too fast, and drivers get pissed because they're rushed. Too much time and drivers get pissed because they've got a long drive ahead of them. But here's what I see from the past weeks races:

Hmm,,, lets see,, Stock went first. then 5 minutes wait, then spec's 5 minutes, then 5 minutes wait, then 19 turns 5 minutes, then 5 minutes wait, then 1/12ths 8 minutes, then minimum 15 minutes wait. Start round 2. well to me that sorta looks like 48 minutes from the end of stock until the begining of the next round.

These times are from last weekends races. 5 minutes a race except for 1/12th, with 5 minutes between races. How much longer does it have to be? Seems to me that when you drop off your car before you go to turn marshall, you've got time to push the button on the charger to start it. And if it takes 45 minutes, then it should be done by the next round no?

The Thing would say, "Nuff Said!"

I realize there are people who drive from out of town.

Where do you think I am when not there, We go to Mertyl Beach SC on a Saturday and come back the same day thats nearly 3 1/2 hrs for me one way!

I understand that some poeple only need so much time to do what they do "BUT" when they need help who do they turn to.

Jimmy Mac

I totally agree with you """"lets keep it consistant""""" period.
yes there is a lot of people who complain when it takes too long or its too short thats my point add 10 mins to the pace from last week and I think that would be a happy medium you even said you had enough time except for the cutting of a motor, besides the 1 cut I put on my own motor I cut 5 more and quickly rebuilt 2 of those. I do not think 40 consistant minutes added to the full night will hurt besides what will they do if we have more racers show up then you can start the next round right after the last round because there will be enough time.

RodneyRacer
01-26-2005, 10:18 PM
I really like the clock idea that way we all know when the round is starting up and not guessing. If you started every hour on the hour from 3 pm and announced when the next round would start say 4pm then 5pm ect... we would all know whats going on. The number one thing that describes a racetrack from an out of town point of view is how well was the show run and that will determine if they come back.

For the guys who drive from out of town I really do appreciate that you do this and I fully understand that you want to get home but if you have nothing but crappy race days because you cannot figure everything out and nobody has time to help you who do ya turn to? On another note how long will you be at this track before you quit.

Maybe you guys forget

I have been at this track for a long time too not as long as Ron and Tarheel I really like this sport alot its level of competition and the FUN of it too. Just realize this I have seen the oval crowd the offroad crowd and now the roadcourse crowd and way early even the flat oval "ALL AT THE WOOD". Here is the bottom line I have seen 50 or more drivers a night in all 3 areas some as many as 80 a night where are they? I know of and have seen drivers drop $100-500 a Saturday night to be faster the next week where are they?? I know why they left because I have talked to alot of them and no its not because that type of racing has died out because its all alive in NC.

Please don't take all this the wrong way

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

Ok, I may have a Hitec radio, (which is better than yours anyhow!!), but the servo in my TC4 is a FUTABA 9304. Now, it my not be quite as silly fast as your .09 thing, but it does go .11. I really don't see that as much of a difference. BUT I will say that this servo is at least 7 years old. I got it at a certain flooded hobby shop in Wilson back in '99 and it was used then. Maybe it could have slowed down?? And the motor in my car was messed with by Rodney the other night. I just think I needed to go 1 tooth less and it would've been there. Had the speed down the straight but the pull out of the turns seemed weak.

By the way, I ran my pack in my car and guess what?? Same lap times as Rodneys battery. So ,either his is crap too or maybe mines not as bad as you keep thinking just cause it has B+T on it. Hmm,,, doesn't Stan H use the same batteries? Kevin C used to too. :)

P.S. DEANS BABY!!!!

lowbugit
01-26-2005, 11:51 PM
Ron your B@T packs are just as good if not better than any of the other matchers packs. I have tried them all and cycled and matched them all. You get good cells and dud cells from all of them. I will not by any other cells personally cause they have not been zapped to death to get the numbers up. Just my 2 cents. Kevin Mac.

JimmyMac
01-27-2005, 01:11 AM
Ron, I think Rodney handed you his "practice" pack. Not a race pack. At least that's what I heard.. hehe.. I can tell a difference in my packs. Even the brand new Team Orion SP2 pack I just bought sucks compared to my 3 month old Surge packs. At least thats what the lap times tell me. But anyways, I'm not saying B&T sucks. I'm just saying you tend to stick with old or used batteries. And I'm just wanting to help you out as much as I can. Especially for the Snowbirds. So the offer is there. Take it or leave it....... punk... :p But who knows, maybe you take care of your packs better than me!

Kevin, Mark, Steve, John, Brian, and anyone I missed... good luck up in MD!!! Have fun! Take some pics!!

Laurie, the XRay 6cell battery straps came in today. I'm gonna attempt to mount it up to the 415.... but I'm kinda scared... hehe

Hey Jimmy, don't you need some more tires, lol. Does that come with all the Rayspeed stuff too?
As far as the race schedule each week goes, we all need more time when our race day is not going well, but sticking to the same schedule all the time, treat everyone the same, seem's fine to me. Even on hectic night's when we run three classes I still have a blast. The hard part is getting Joseph to understand that thing's don't alway's go perfect and your car is not alway's gonna perform exactly like you want it too.

Ron- Last weekend there were only 4 races! 3-5 min. races and an 8 min. race plus say 2 extra mins between races. So that is 29 mins. of race time cause 2 mins will fall into the BREAK, not counting that you are in one of those and marshall one also. So the 29 mins plus 15 mins that were given between rounds = 44mins total. I know it takes my GP3300's 45mins at the least to charge. So I am supposed to do everything else IE. cut motor, sauce tires, set ride height and tweak WHEN.??? To get proper ride height and tweak you SHOULD do them with a fully charged pack, right?

To me, and this is just my opinion, If you are one of the FEW that drive 2-3hrs you should understand that with a 3PM start time you are not going to get home before 10pm.

Glenn are the ones that want to speed things up actually going HOME after the race? Or are they wanting to HURRY up so they can go out to eat?!?!?! That is the TRUE question that needs to be answered!

That is my $.05 worth

JimmyMac
01-28-2005, 12:53 AM
No... Laurie, George, and myself don't ask to speed things up so we can go eat at Logans. They just pack up fast and early after the racing is "over" so they can get out and go to Logans. Then we sit there and BS for several hours before we head home. Laurie also has a 2~3 hour drive home as well. So it's not them asking for shorter time if that is your intented question... :p I just know Glenn wanted to close up the shop fast after the racing was "over" so he could catch up with us to eat there.

Anyways, the time thing between rounds has been delt with.

Chance, I start out at 58mm and run them down til it's a rubberband (55mm). Like Anthony said, they are fastest at 57mm. Pending on tire brand and my driving that night... I might only wear a tire down 1mm a night (4 runs). Sometimes more though. Try to get your tire to wear even. Even if that means more camber on the right front than the left front.... etc... I used to start out at 59mm for practice... then go down to 58mm to start out the 1st qualifier.

Hank, I dunno if I need tires for the Miata (well it does need rears hehe). Still trying to decide if I want to keep it... (it'll cost me about $1500 to fix it up to run decent again... new clutch, header [taking off the turbo], new rag top w/glass, brakes, cleanup and/or leaks). So I dunno. I've been thinking on a new car for more room. If I don't.. then the Miata gets hooked back up in the next month or two. I'm wanting to switch jobs right now... so that's holding everything back right now. We'll see after the Snowbirds... hehe.

I don't wanna give up the Yokomo..... I really really like that car. But the 415 has my attention right now. The Yokomo would come with the RaySpeed chassis, CGM chassis, SSG chassis. RaySpeed CVD's f/r. Hardened Rear Universals. Square Ti front axles/bones. Tobee aluminum bones. F/R swaybar kit. Front upper swaybar kit. Oneway, Diff, Spool. SS and SSS shock bodies. Ti Nitride shock shafts. RaySpeed pistons sets. All Yokomo springs. RaySpeed springs. RaySpeed aluminum shock spring retainers. Aluminum front spindles (0.5mm offset). Square aluminum front input shaft. Yokomo Hardened Aluminum rear input shaft. Ceramic bearings. Aluminum suspension blocks. Tobee light weight mainshaft. Yokomo graphite mainshaft. 1, 0.5, and 0degree rear toe blocks. Team Suzuki aluminum upper deck braces. Graphite tranny cases, arms, and front oneway/spool diff gear. Ti screws. And Yokomo Stickers. I think that's "most" of it. Oh yeah, and 2003 & 2004 Region 3 Stock TC Championships and TQ for 2003 NC State Stock TC Championship. haha..had to toss them in there... :D

If I sold the SD, that would bring me down to 3 Touring cars. My 415. My EvoIV for TCS races. And my original Yokomo YR4M2 Pro (I won't sell that). So then everyone can't rag on me anymore for having sooo many Touring cars... hehe...

Anyways, catch yall tomorrow after work for Friday night practice.... Hopefully I'll have a Parma body painted by then....

Chance- no sweat, mine are at 59.5, I really don't think it's that big of a deal, I started mine at 60 all last season.

Glenn- I am still planning on coming with the forecast. I hope things are still on, BUT if something happens and you choose not to run, could someone PLEASE CALL ME and let me know. I have to leave by 7:00 to be there by 10. I doubt people look at the forum at 7:00 that are locals, so a call ASAP would be appreciated. 704-562-8895

I'll be at work tomorrow. But I should get to the track by 5pm. So I'll make at least 1 qualifier and the mains. It sucks, but I was scheduled for work Sunday and not Saturday. But they cancelled Sunday work and told everyone to come in Saturday. Oh well. My vacation is coming very very soon!!!! :)

Yeah, someone give me a call as well if anything happens. Most of yall should know my celphone number. I'll have it on all day work. Just gotta make sure I put it on vibrate mode since I can't hear it if it goes off in the plant.

Blah blah blah... charging batteries and finishing up my Parma Alfa for tomorrow. Catch yall then....

Well tonights racing had some new surprizes for all of us. I had a fairly good night of racing. I TQ'd in the first round only to get slower through the night. Tom Price had to much power for me in the main and ran me down to take his first win in Spec tonight. In Stock, after the dust settled from all the banging, Chris Johnson took his first win in touring tonight. The 19T was an awsome race tonight with Brandon Melton leading the way untill the power of the 20 car getting by him and Brandon taking the lead back for a lap and then Laurie Willis taking charge with the lead again. While Brandon and Laurie were battling Steve Beasely was closing in on them. Laurie had the juice and took his first win in 19t tonight also. So three new winners tonight in all the classes. Congrads to all the drivers and i hope everone had plenty of time for their batts tonight and had a chance to enjoy the racing. We'll see you guys next week and be please be safe on the roads.

Congrats to all the winners today. Wish I would have been there the whole day. But work sucks... what can I do. 1 qualifier and a main will have to do than no racing at all. I just hope next weekend I don't have to work. I'd like to get some more testing done on the car before the 'Birds.

Sorry Steve B for taking you out on the first lap. I pulled over to wait for ya. But you were on your lid and the others were passing right by us.

Good run Laurie. Your car was dialed. Maybe sometime I would like to try your setup. I'm gonna go back to my original setup when I was fastest. I'll try that next weekend.

Good win Tom!

Chris J.... Good Win Team Mate!! Now the pressure is on you for next weekend!! hehe..

Hank.. Nice TQ with the Yokomo! Your car looked pretty good out there. And if it weren't for a certain car.. you might have won. I guess I'll catch you in what.. 3 weeks??

Well I hope everyone made/makes it home safely. And I hope those in MD had fun. Drive home safely from there too...

Ron, I'll give ya some idea's on a new servo sometime Sunday afternoon/evening.

just got in from the track after stopping by mcdonalds. pretty fun weekend of racing. we were not to good yesterday but everyone made improvements. i picked up more than a second on my lap times from what i started out doing. mark, kevin, and john found a problem with my car at the hotel last night and made my car way better after repairs. lets just say i initiated all of the boards nicely at first. track is way more technical than rosewood you better not blink or you will hit something. oh well fun anyways. john ended up finishing third in the b main, after having a rough day in his heats. i ened up 6th in the b main after running 4th behind john and even passing him for about two laps until i got smacked by another car and tweaked my car pretty bad. i even ran second in one of my heats not too bad. marks car looked good all day but he just kept getting hung up. kevin was also getting faster but kept getting hung up by some little kid who wouldnt move over for faster cars. Mark was in the D main and finished 4th after wrecking early and making a strong comeback. kevin got took out by the same kid on lap 1 of the c main but managed to come back to 5th. all in all a good weekend. we will know a little more what to expect next time back. oh ya watch out for the ORANGE ROUGHY!!!!!!!!

Brian didn't really say but it was a big turnout crowd....I think they had about 60 in stock touring.....they packed the mains to 10. 1/12th Stock had 26. Brian and I struggled until the 3rd heat when we got decent runs in that got us up into the B main.
Was a lot of fun watching the 1/12th Mod run and the Touring Mod run.....I think Andy G. took both...

Hey Glenn - Next time you change the layout can you put the straight away on the backstretch? I think it helps with having people lean or you don;t have to look around someone's radio when following your car in front/below the drivers stand.
Oh, and maybe switch up to go the road course direction?

I cannot express enough how well the race schedule went last night it was on time every time we really like the clock thing you know exactly when to hit charge and it makes getting ready so much easier. Everyone had plenty of time to do what they needed to do I had time to help a few fellow racers and get my stuff around too even if I neeed to cut a motor and put my car on the setup station. This is definitely the way it should run week to week and at the Bash, consistancy is key to people who travel to racetracks everywhere and the new guys will know what to expect when they go to another track too. Everyone was very pleased keep up the good work! The out of town people WILL NOTICE!

Thank you very much for the great time.

RODNEY and CHRIS J- I know each of you asked me where you could buy the BSR tires. Until Rodney broke pretty bad in the main, he was liking the tires very well. I am not sure who stocks them around here, but you can email John Foister (owner) at teambsr@att.net and I am sure he can give you a dealer. See Rodney, if your car wasn't so tuff, that would have never happened, our cars would just have a busted arm or something, lol.

On another note- MAN!!!! I got to about Burlington and the roads were BAD. I was crusing along real slow and all of a sudden I saw the car in front of me's HEADLIGHTS, and about a mile later, I saw TAILIGHTS Behind me from cars spinning out!!!! Good thing I can drive drifting style, lol. Good thing the g-parents live in Greensboro where i made my bed for the night.

Thanks Rodney Motors all were good. I had plenty of speed. I ended up with the best lap times with the one you labeled "torque". I never really hit the right rollout, I think I was just a little high.
Honestly though - the rollout was not my biggest problem. I needed to be more smooth and consistent. If I was running up there every week...I think I would be up in the front in a month.

I really liked the BSR tires they looked like new from run to run. With the Jacos the edges tend to chip away in little chunks even when glued and not hitting anything. I will be running them from now on although??? how are the rims yeah I took a really good shot but I have never had a rim break like that. The car broke right where the extension piece is on the knuckle.

Ron, you asked about either an Airtronics servo or KO Propo... well the 4 I would suggest are as follows

Airtronics
94758- Digital
94357- non Digital

KO Propo
2343- Digital
2173- non Digital

All these servo's are high speed with enough torque. And will last many many years. check your PM for more info on them.

Good to hear yall had fun up in MD! Sounds like it was a blast!

Mark, did you ever order an EvoIV yet? Just curious.

Leadfoot, the Tamiya Subaru body is very close to the Protoform Nemesis body, Yokomo Stratus E, and Ride Stratus Mk III. All very very very very closely related. Tamiya just changed the headlights alittle and rebadged it as a Subaru. It was a good body at the Worlds. Who wants one? hehe

LeadFoot, sorry to disappoint your friend... but Surikarn used the Mazda6 at the Worlds. Just like his Teammate Marc (the new World Champion). The only person to use the Tamiya body was Daisuke. He actually took 2nd at the Worlds. But was penalized which took him to 3rd moving Hara to 2nd over all. Daisuke even won the 2nd qualifier. He's an awesome driver and usually out qualifies Hara in Japan. But Hara seems to do better in the mains. If your friend doesn't believe me... the info is even in the March issue of RC Car Action.... :D

There was the SAME amount of time this past weekend between the start of round one and round two as there was the week before. Oh, I get it,,, how come he gets one before you did?? Are the bugs worked out on the system now?? When will the Futaba/Hitec be available?

JimmyMac

"Ours" won't be out til next month. I'm sure if Kinwald, Baker, Francis, etc use Futaba instead of Airtronics.... then Futaba would be out first instead of Airtronics.

Jairo, it's down to Fl. not up! Hmm,, but then again, on the way home it'll be up,,,

Yeah, Steve was happy to hear it. Splitting basically 4 ways instead of 2 is a lot more better. Good thing Ron's not gonna race,, where'd we put all the equipment?? LOL

See ya Saturday.

Ron, if you want to pick on people's speech, make sure not to post something right after that says, "a lot MORE BETTER" :p ;) :D . See all you guys next week in FL.

No see you missunderstand. The "more better" is me also picking on Glenn as he says that a lot in joking around.

Like Treebeard says in the Two Towers, " I like going south,, somehow it feels like I'm going downhill."

That would rock if he opened up Friday. But if Anthony didn't make it down... I'd be the only one there haha.... I might be working again Saturday. We shall see. Sucks, but what can I do. I might leave at 3 and miss the 1st qualifier... who knows... I'll know more tomorrow. Can't wait til next week. This vacation is well needed!!

Brandon, you'll have to excuse Ron... he's a Yankee! He's from down North... I mean up North... :p Oh and when the Snowbirds is over... he'll refer to it as.... "last years" Snowbirds... hehe... Just pick'n on ya lunk. Hey Ron... I'll be Gilligan and you can be the Skipper... how about that good ole buddy!

Glenn, if you can.... save me 1 pair of Parma Cyan and Parma Magenta. I'll need them for the Snowbirds. If you don't have any at the track... no problem.. I'll just buy them up there in Orlando.... :D

George, did I mention I have the other pair of shock caps! I'll bring them to the track Saturday.

Also... still for sale.. Yokomo SD full option for $250 and Yokomo BCSS (small charger) for $80 if anyone is interested.

C hubs are what needs to be kept in stock from what I have seen. I only broke one thing on the car in the past month and that was what broke.
Hey Glenn, here is a link to all the replacement parts for the Pro 4 and part numbers. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0005p?&I=HPIC1179&P=Z
I also think that the gearbox set and bumper mounts and bumper would probably be good to keep in stock too.

Hey Pete I read somewhere that HPI is coming out with a carbon fiber inner camber link mount but haven't seen it for sale anywhere, have you seen it anywhere? I think the current one on the car has a problem with the ball studs pulling through if you take a hard enough hit.

Ok, so i forget things but CHANCE!!! by any chance did you or your son accidently pick up my alignment set-up station? It was in the same box as yours in Glenns pit sorta right next to yours. If you have it then could you bring it with you Saturday? If you don't have it, then that means it was stolen. It'll be easy to tell wich is which, I think you have both standard and metric attachment nuts, and mine only has the standard, and my Plastic toe-in plate has a few rough spots on the channel it slides on. If you see it you'll know what I mean.

If by chance it was taken from me, Please return it and there will be no questions asked.

Hpi Parts list Europe (http://www.hpieurope.com/kits/parts.php?lang=en&partNo=185)

Hello, small car Racers avg 14.39 to 17.89 mph. Who car goes that fast?

Glenn. This is a the part list off the HPI site. Because Towerhobbies prices are way to high for the P4. Usually rcboyz.com have the lowest prices yet the highest shippment charge. I get their parts on Ebay where the shipping is cheaper (like half). But Glenn if you can be instock that would be great :D .
Also Glenn do you have a pay pal account. You can get money wired at the track since you do not carry a wire credit card service. Ofcourse a laptop would have to be accessible, which I always carry mines with me. :). I hate carrying cash it too bulky.

And Ron I read your little zinger about me hold up the track time up. Ofcourse the reason always lead to you taking my P4 out....

rhell :D

JimmyMac
02-04-2005, 06:34 PM
I'll be working tomorrow, but I'll be at the track by 2pm. So I won't really have much practice time. At least I'll get to run all my qualifiers and main.

Rhell.... what you talking about mph for? Just curious. Were you asking who's car can do that? I know that Stock cars outdoors should do between 20~25mph. And Mod could go upwards to around 45mph. All this pending on gearing and motors of course. Are you refering to the aver mph per lap at the track?? You bringin the Pro4 this weekend?? I hope so...... hehe

Catch yall tomorrow....

I got in 8 Parma Alfa bodies this week. If you want one, better get it quick. They don't last long at the WOOD. Spec drivers meeting before racing starts tomorrow. Also got in an Intigy motor Dyno for spec drivers if you want to know what your motor is doing i'll be glad to help. see you tomorrow.

Anthony, I already stock parts for the TC4. They are just slow coming out with them. Same with the Losi. I plan on carrying just the parts that break the most on those cars. If anyone needs a part i don't have in stock, just call me with the number and i'll be glad to get it.

J/M I will bring the P4. My Corally is busted and I am going to leave it like that for awhile. I was talking in general about the mph.....I was reading the spec on the corally rdx and It has three different chassis set-ups all costing around $419-$449.
with a 3.5mm carpet chassis set-up.....that pretty thick = righ'? I have not even thought about putting the 4.1.5 together....Maybe I can pay you Jimmy to put it together for me? oh well c-ya guys later.

JimmyMac
02-04-2005, 08:57 PM
I could put the 4,1,5 together for you Terell. But it would have to wait til after the Snowbirds. So I couldn't get to it til 2 weeks from now. And I am very slow at putting my cars together. It usually takes me a week to do it new out of the box. So if it's no rush for ya... then no problem. Ask Glenn.... it took me forever to build his CRC 12th scale car haha...

It's me Jeremy, I raced pretty regular with you about a year and a half ago and then my great Military Duty's brought me to Okinawa, Japan. Anyway it has taken almost a year now but we convinced the Base General to give us some land to build a track. To make a long story short I need to get ahold of a timing system and transponders like the ones you have Glenn. We already have the software but I need to other stuff. Transponders, timing loop, and recorder or decoder whatever you want to call it. Could someone point me in the right direction on what I will need and where I can get it from? A year and a half left and I can't wait to get back and try that carpet at "The Wood". Later Guys and Good luck at the Birds.

Good to hear from you again Jeremy. What kind of track are yall gonna build? Offroad or on? Or both? I thought they had a permanent TC track on the Chibana Tennis court just outside of Kadena Gate 3? It was a feature article in a Japanese Mag just last year where one of HPI's top factory drivers (Daisuke) and a Yokomo driver were there racing Nitro and Electric TC. Have you raced there? Or any of the Japanese temp tracks?

Have yall seen the track layout for the 'Birds?! It's one big oval!! haha... sucks. I guess I'll try Laurie's setup for this layout. This'll definately be a horse power layout.

Ron, I'll call ya after work.

Anthony... I'm gonna try and get the room on Tuesday when we get there. I'll see if they'll let me do that. That-a-way we have a better chance at getting a room alittle closer to the track instead of trying it on Wednesday.

Well catch some of yall Tuesday... some of yall Wednesday.. and the rest in 2 weeks... L8Rz

Glenn -
I put together a list of Parts for the Pro 4 that I think would be stuff us Pro 4 drivers might need at the track. I would of course like to have all of the parts there in stock but whatever you can stock would be better than nothing.
I think there may be another Pro 4 there soon too......right Brian?

All of these part numbers are HPI #s. 73501,73506,73507,73510,73511,73513,73514,73518,73 519, 75119, 75120, 75169, 73085, A157 and A162.
