I thought that a thread of pics & stories would be cool. Post your still & action pics here. New boats & your first run, this is your thread.
I will start it off with a wonderful day in Sarasota, Florida @ the local lake.
Jan. 9, 2005 was a picture perfect day. The weather was about 75 degrees, clear skys & variable light winds. The local club stand was booming with the sounds of gas & nitro engines. The spectator crowd was flowing through the pits checking out or rigs & watching in ahh as some of the racers ripped up the lake at more than 80mph. We had a gas grill that cooked up some nice burgers to finish the day off with.
Here's some pic's,

I have something to run, but unfortunately right now an "icebreaker run" involves the use of an axe to break the ice. That's after you clear the snow off of the ice, of course. Ah, the wonders of winter in Chicago.

How did she run? I love the Manta ray (although they look a little better with the decal package ;) )I couldn't start mine for 3 days (and then I discovered that I had the choke settings reversed, lol). Nice pics. I wish I could be running right now, but right now, my local pond is as close as possible to glass, smooth clear and hard. :D

Mine is closed. Went two weeks ago with the cat & noticed the gate said closed from Oct 31-March 31. Talk about a bummer. But I've got a junker airboat thats about ready. Should give some back yard entertainment.
...........Manta.... Dang, that boat is huge.. What, 55" or so? But it doesn't seem THAT big.
Like it.

Chris,
I can't really say, first he had his sterring servo reversed & did not figure it out before it nailed the shore up on the rocks. (minor damage I guess) Then he put it back out & puttered around a bit. No to much to say. (Newbie w/ big powerful boat)
I was cooking hamburgers on the grill, was more interesting to watch.

Downright scary. Thats when my junk is off the water & moved back a few extra yards from the shore. (we all started somewhere for sure. same applied to me when I learned to fly. Everyone left plenty of airspace for the new guy) :o

Yes, it's 55". Seems really big in person (it fills the trunk + 1/2 of the back seat of our Subaru Outback). Tha's part of what makes it a great oat. Sorry to hear about the damage to the boat (not to mention the damage to his pride). you ALWAYS check the electronics BEFORE you fire the boat up. Guess he learned it the hard way. Glad to hear nothing major was damaged and no one was hurt (serious possibility with 22lbs going 40+). DD - I'm sure I'll have the same experience this summer - I hope to learn how to fly. Got a plane under construction, all complete but the covering. Now I just wish that I could run more here. The ponds are thawing (we're in a warm streak), but the weather reports say a big storm'll hit by friday.

Yes DD, the lake was cleared for him. :D He on his second & third runs hit one of the marker bouy's & then ran into the large time clock barge & got stuck & needed to be rescued. He should have given me the radio, I would have broken it in proper for him. :D
Tha's part of what makes it a great oat.
Yeah pretty nice oat! :D
I am not really sure what if anything happened to the boat. I did not even look @ it. In the pic above thats one of our race champs(#1 in State x-class I think) looking it over before he got it wet again. He is the one that found that the servos were reversed. The guy with the boat was so green that he did not even know that. Thats why he hit the shore, he was trying to get used to a boat that turned left when you went right & vice versa @ 40mph. He drove a little better after the steering was fixed.
That was three weeks ago, not sure if he will come back. The weather has been to bad to run the two weekends since. This coming is looking to be perfect again. 73 degrees & sunny!! :) I have a new boat to break in myself, a HTB-340 w/mod 7.5. I think I'll stay away from the shore rocks though!

Went to the lake today to T&T my new tunnel. The weather was sweet & the water was nice. I got her screamin like a virgin with a little TLC. :D

Nope, will get some action shots soon I hope. If I could get someone to take them for me. I may even get a vid done. (my digital takes those too)
Til then you'll have to wait.
Sunday is looking good weather wise & if so the lake will be jamming again. I will ad some new pics soon after, at least thats my goal to keep updating when I can.

Shag carpet?? Hmm.... kinda lost me there..
The paint was not of my doing. Actually its kinda funky, changes colors from metal flake green to solid blue gloss. You can somewhat see the blue in the pick at the rear of the facing sponson.
BTW-nice rig as always....... :)

Heavy metalflake seems to bring back memories of the 70's.... ie, "shag carpet". LOooooL. Whats the thingy in the nose of it? Looks like a fuel valve?

Oh, I got ya. Memories...........lalalalala :D
You know shag is making a comeback btw, at least here in the U.S.
Also the metalflake is not really heavy, it seems to look that way because of the water droplets. Actually the paint is ( new ) chamelon, the boats looks green passing one way & blue the other. ( depends on the sun ) Can confuse some people, ( where did the green boat go? ) hehe
I added some decals the other day ( was bored ). I will try to get some action shots this weekend. Looks really cool riding on the rear 4 inches of a 34 in boat. :D
The thingy on the nose is the lock down for the canopy.

Running tunnels was the highlight of my r/c time I'd say. Having always been a huge outboard fan in the fullscale arena, it only made sense.
Guys, back in the day, that Prather 27" Tunnel I had was the BOMB in my eyes. When running by myself, I'd squat down near the waters edge & bring it in for a long run right at me~! Watching it dance on the last few inches & being able to see all the way under the tunnel to the skeg & prop gives me goose bumps over 15 years later.
Wait till I show you what Santa brought me. Will take some pics.

I know just what you mean! :D I love when you corner the bouys on your right. Making a low & tight turn, then right as you emerge from the last one and the straight is on your face, up she goes in full glory down the straights on her tippi toes. :D

CF, that's a sweet boat that you've got there. We have a guy that comes up to our annual Fun Run from Ohio that has some and his are some nice handling not to mention fast boats.

LOL,
Ron your kinda like Mr. Wilson from " Home Improvement " . In the pics I've seen there is always a angle except front face. That one was wet butt.
I got one of those last week. Slipped on the muddy bank taking my boat to the water. Did not want to drop the model so I did the butt to back slide down the bank. Needless to say I had a nasty wet muddy strip from by butt to my middle back. Was sweet :D ----The boat went in the water & I ran her. Dealt with the muddy butt later! :o
Edit!!!>>> Saw the pic on the other site. Kills the mystery :( , LOL
I thought the wet butt was better :D
