Just recived this engine new in the box but there seems to be no carb. but something else in its place any body know what it is? and can i just add a carb to it?

OK, what you have there is a venturi for an exhaust throttled engine. Exhaust throttles are still available but only certain people like them, for a new boater they are a pain in the you-know-where.
Yes, you can install a regular carb in its place, K&B makes several carbs that will do the job. You will need to get the exhaust header for it also.

Yes, they'll still move a boat along pretty well. It's not a speed demon but the K&B's have been known for reliability. On race day, sometimes that is needed more than speed. You need something that will still be running at the end of 6 laps. For fun running, it's a great motor.
