hey guys,

well i got my RS4-2 running and **** is it ever fun to drive.

Only prob right now is i cannot for the life of me get the throttle servo adjusted properly. Currently the carb is open to much so on start up the car wants to take off (slowly). But if i adjust the link from the carb to servo in order to allow the carb to close more then when I try to grab full throttle the carb wont open enough. Even if i play with the adjustment on the radio, in order to get it the carb closed enough at idle then im still unable to get it open for full throttle

whats the solution

can i leave the carb open a little more, and turn the idle screw down?

only other prob im having is very poor throttle response. On take off the car hesitates for a couple seconds before it takes off.....is it simply due to how rich the engine is running during break in?

I'm not super familiar with carbs on gas vehicles, having limited experience with them. But I do know that electric racers often set-up their transmitters so that when the throttle trigger is in neutral position, the car will slowly creep forward. This is to give the car a little "drift" in corners when the throttle is released. To hold the car in position, simply keep the brake on.

Some die-hard gas racers can probably give you better advice however.

What type of radio are you using? That will help me to know what options you have.

P.S. We strongly frown on the use of questionable language. You can still express yourself without resorting to profanity. The language filter caught it this time, but please refrain from testing our filter. There are younger viewers and others that may find it offensive. Thanks for understanding.

sorry for the "language" but i can ensure you it was nothing major..the filter here seems to be set very sensitive...which isnt a bad thing by any means.

My radio is Futuba Magnum...

thanks for the response Richie.

Yeah i've been fooling with it for the past couple hours but cannot get it dialed in. No matter what i've tried the carb is always open to much at idle so the car wants to take off...but it will get wide open throttle no prob. Or if i adjust it the other way it will idle fine but cannot get wide open throttle cuz the carb is open enough.

Maybe I'll look into that losi throttle linkage

thanks

If you have a radio with throttle ATL (EPA on radios other than Futaba) you can go over 100 percent servo travel to get the servo to make the full sweep.

I thought it was ok to let the car "creep" at idle. I may be wrong. My friends Nitro Quake goes very slow at idle. Less than a mile per hour. But can go full throttle.

99DECH:

I have an RS42 also. The stock throttle linkage is very difficult to set up properly. Some people have gotten it to work by moving the ball to the lower hole on the engine's throttle arm. I didn't work for me. I gave up and purchased a losi linkage set w/ a longer servo arm, springs, etc. I'll see if I can dig up the part numbers if you like.

The stock servo throttle arm is a little too short in my opinion to completely rotate the barrel. A servo arm with more throw will fix the problem.
