It's a pretty good truck. It's durable, reliable, and easy to work on (a plus for noobs!)! They can take a lot of punishment and keep on going, and they handle really nice. The 2.5R engine seems to be a sticking point (for some) as far as tuning goes, but other than that, the Revo is nice. You might compare it to other RTR's on the market to see if there are any other trucks you might want, such as the HPI Savage .25, Associated Monster GT, Losi LST, CEN Genesis, and Tamiya's TNX. Check your local lhs to see which trucks/parts they carry, and go with that one, unless you're set on something they don't have. In that case, shop the internet!! :D

I bought my first nitro recently and am really happy with the revo. I've got nothing else to compare it to, but I am happy regardless.
It is a pretty tough truck. I don't race, but go out intendng to really beat on it and I'm constantly impressed after some big jumps and crashes.
I am considering getting a Savage as a second truck, but only because I want a monster truck and I don't really consider the revo a monster truck.

So, if you don't consider the revo a mt, then what do you call the mammoth, ofna truggies, and gs racing sut? they are also marketed as mt's, but are basically truggies.

Well a monster truck to me means just a very large truck with very large tires. To me, the revo is very well proportioned for its size. A monster truck, to me anyway, should have tires disproportionate to the size of its chassis.

 Yeah, I guess so, but almost any sized tire can be put on true mt's and truggies. And, many mt's use buggy type chassis's. I think they should be classified by the height of thte diff against the chassis. For example, the t-maxx would be a true mt since the diffs are completely below the chassis.

I bought my REVO not too long ago, and when I talked with some other REVO owners, they warned me to prepare some glow plugs when I try to start the engine for the first time because I am gonna need them. They are right on this one! I couldn't get the engine started no matter how I tried. Then I thought about what those people told me about the glow plug... I took the glow plug off the engine and check it with a glow igniter.   it is brand new and it won't even light up well. So I took another glow plug and check it with the same glow igniter. hey this one lights up very bright so I brought my REVO out again, push the red button on the starter. The engine started in less than 2 seconds! :) I just can't understand why they built the truck so perfectly but shipped with a bad glow plug.

It is because they go cheap on many parts  :D

Like you can't get a bad glow plug ever. With mass-production, things like that happen. It's not like they check each and every plug installed in every truck. Geez.

Have you been in any kind of manufacturing business? It's about quality control. I used to sell and have been using OS and Enya glow plugs for almost 20 years and I have never seen a bad one (lucky me?). Don't get me wrong, I don't work for OS or Enya. I just put myself in the position of those who paid more than $500 for their first r/c car or truck, and can't get the engine started just because of a $5 glow plug. They might have to find a hobby shop 50+ miles away from home, and they might also have to wait for another week to try out their new luxury toy.
The REVO is an awesome truck, two thumbs up. However, things like this can be prevented by sourcing reliable vendors.

Been in aircraft manufacturing about 10 years. So, you're saying it can NEVER happen, and that ALL OS and Enya plugs have NEVER had a problem from the factory? So he had a problem with a glow plug that was easily fixed. His lhs could have helped, or he could call Traxxas about it.
50+ miles from home? Wait for a week? This is an rc truck, not life support. If "they" have to wait a week, then so be it. Life is unfair, but "they" will survive.
