Hey All,
I'm new to the hobby and wanted the pros-cons to the above referenced trucks. It appears that they will both cost about the same when everything is said and done. I have one shop that is reccomending the revo and the other the tnx.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Are you racing or bashing? What about getting parts? Will you be able to get parts for the TNX as easily as the Revo? All things being equal, if you're racing, I'd say the Revo, if you're bashing, I'd say TNX.

Yeah, the revo and tnx are both competent in racing and bashing, because I've seen then both at the track and bashing around. I think the revo has an edge in both since it has more travel and better suspension, but the tnx might have a better engine. A lot of your decision depends on how much more money you are willing to pay for mods, because the revo is building up speed in the aftermarket a lot quicker than the tnx. But, whatever you chose, a few mods could easily make one better than the other, like a os .18 tm for the revo, or powerstroke shocks for the tnx. Also, look at that new race-ready tnx.

Personally I'd go with a Revo, but in all fairness I've seen TNX's own up on every other truck. I've never driven one, but they appear to handle very well. I think that the design of the the TNX is a little more basher friendly too. There's a lot less mechanism to bind/crack/break/etc. But still, you can't beat the coolness of the Revo suspension :p

Ask at the hobby shops or tracks if there is anyone that has either truck go and watch the trucks. When the guy stops driving the truck politly walk over and ask him how he likes his truck or tell him his truck is cool.Either way its a good conversation starter. After a quick chat almost anyone will hand over the radio if you know what your talking about.
This is about the only way to be able to know what truck is for you.

TNX bro. Too many damn Revo's out there already thinking they are the hottest truck out.
TNX is the underdog that will eat them all up (including my Savage)

i'm going to have to throw a vote in the direction of the tnx. i have owned one since july and haven't had a problem with it yet. i bash pretty hard and i haven't broken anything on the body yet. when i say hard i mean off a 7' tall jump ghetto-rigged out of plywood at top speed throwing it well over 20' into the air and landing on all four wheels. it has a really strong engine and a light body which is the ultimate setup for a mt. even though the revo has a lot of hype, the tnx comes with a better engine and seems to be better all around except for the shocks and the aftermarket for the tnx seems to be slow right now but it will come around. also, check out www.tamiyausa.com for the tnx pro edition which is coming out for a limited time.

HI I had both and I keep TNX This is one Kick a$$ truck. :D
At my track they try to put me in out law class. They said my truck was to fast for small block  SO when I raced in out law class I came In 1st :D
SO then they said my engine was not stock (but it was for the most part I had New Era Racing header and MGT pipe)I said what do you care anyway you put me in out law cass witch is B.B and Modiify. Most are Big time in hop ups parts any way.
I found out by some outher racers that it was the T-Maxx and Revo Guys and complaining about Tnx Racing with them. That is when I sold my Revo that had hard time keeping running any way.SO I have my Loved Tamiya TNX :D :D
If you like to see my TNX look at this link I have been doing some cool Hop ups to it

I also owned both and kept only the TNX. I just liked it better, especially on the track.

Personally, I'd definately buy the TNX. The Revo is a great truck, but I think the TNX is better.

No, rcmadmatt is an RC fan. I have 2 Tmaxx's, 1 RC18T, 1 NTC3, 1 Venom Mini Giant, 1 Mini-T, 1 Hyper 7, and an original Blackfoot. I'm just saying, compared to Traxxas, Associated, and Losi, Tamiya is a pain to get parts for. Are they still doing the 'parts tree' thing? You know, to get the one little piece, you had to get a tree? That was wrong.

They are both good trucks. For parts and good prices for the truck go to www.sppedtechrc.com. If you purchase a TNX get the Proline edition. You basically get the Powerstroke shocks, bowties with rims, and a nicer engine head for an extra 100 bucks. I have a TNX and love it. I have driven a revo and it is also a good truck but I like the 1/8 chassis size better as it tends to be more stable, as the Revo is a 1/10 scale.

you said you're a beginner, hmmmmmm TNX, i haven't seen these perform together, but from experience (3 2.5s 3gal total) i'd have to say the TNX would be better, and I've heard ,AND seen that the revoo is weak
just my 2 cents

ohhhhhhhhh
the TNX doesnt have a bigblock, and the one in the race didnt either, it was a stock engine.
i recall he missed the pit or figured he could save time by skipping a stop and thats why he ran out, however before he did he was in 1st, SMOKING THE REVO, then kerk, engine died, lol.

These threads are worthless. They just end up in 'my truck is better than yours' mentality. If you like a particular truck, buy the damm thing. There is no one dominant or perfect truck.
