has anybody else out there burst a standard savage shock absorber like this?

i was using it properly for the first time after running it in and noticed the back end getting lower and lower.

came home to find it had burst on the casting seam

has anbody else burst one like this?
now that i have to get new ones as superglue dont hold the pressure
are alloy shocks worth the ££££ or should i stick with standard ones

all i do is hill climbing and trialling and i am only a begginner in rc
any tips and tricks would be gr8 such as springs, oils, diffs....

big oggy
thanks people :)

Yes i have done several like that i race the savages and this is one of the weak points on the shocks as for ally 1;s no i would personally stick with stock ones cheap enough to buy of ebay you can pick up a full set for £15 just re shock oil them thats all if you go for ally and the towers body posts are plastic what is going to break it certainly will not be the ally 1;s so do not worry it is nothing you have done wrong sometimes they do do this

It must of been a bad mold or something. You could try callling HPI and asking them about it. Stick with the stock shocks since they are cheaper to repair.

Farwar is right. HPI had a bad batch at one time. They all leak at the seams. Give them a call and they should help you out. I haven't had that problem with mine but I did break one and bought a complete set from eBay for $12 unassembled.

also make sure that you don't overfill your shocks.

Yeah, same thing happened to my brothers truck, there was too much oil in the shocks.

I can't remember who it was, but someone on these boards put LST shocks on his Savage. Looked pretty cool. :)

There isn't anything out there that works as well as the stock shocks. You must make sure that the shocks do not "bounce" back (without springs). If they do, you need to bleed more oil out.

If they're leaking at the seams I'm pretty sure HPI will replace them. As was mentioned above HPI did have a bad batch and was replacing the bodies. Most people think the stock shocks work the best so contact HPI about your problem.
